I bought a travel size Nivea a couple of weeks ago as I see people saying that they 'swear by it' (and it was 'free' with 2 travel toothpastes) - but if you do use it, how the hell do you apply it?

It's so thick and sticky, it's hard to rub in, I've tried patting it on and leaving a few minutes to see if body temperature melts it a little, but still sticky and difficult to use. Am I being a bit dim?

It does seem to be good though, unless the effects are due to a facial massage every time I use it!

Fantastic stuff. It would've been awful to use and incompatible with my skin when I was a bit younger but it's the most excellent moisturiser to use now I'm 35+ and using retinol.

It needs to be applied to dry skin, it doesn't apply after using micellar water. I use a cream cleanser wiped off with a damp cotton wool square, then apply my nivea. It soaks in quite quickly, but I prefer thick moisturiser.

I love blue Nivea and Nivea soft. I use blue Nivea with cotton wool as a make up remover, before toner, I use it as a night cream. I use it when my skin needs a break. I very rarely have spots and my skin is lovely. <tiny brag>

Love it for my knees, elbows and feet. I only use a little and it makes them feel so soft

TheFormidableMrsC · 12/09/2024 13:47

I've used it as a night cream for years. I put small blobs on my face and leave it for a bit. Then I gently massage it in, taking care not to pull skin around the eyes. It's important that your skin is dry so if you use any serums, leave a a good gap between applications.

Thin layer as a night cream. IF my skin is feeling or looking v dry. Otherwise I use Nivea Soft or Simple

TheFormidableMrsC · 12/09/2024 13:51

It's also really good if you use a Gua Sha tool.

It works for some people, others not.

We get it in a tube as well, which I much prefer as I don't like using the tub or tin version so much.

Apparently you need to get the German one and not the one made in USA as the ingredients are different. I'm in neither place but our one has the same ingredients as the German one.

Where I live, winter is very very dry. So this is my go too all winter. I use it as a cleanser, it wipes off with a flannel well, and gets rid of every scrap of make up. And then I use it for a night cream too. You can put on a decent amount and let it soak in like a mask, or just use a smaller amount and use like a normal night cream. Of course it does take a bit longer to soak in.

I haven't had a breakout yet.

I find it a bit much for summer though, so it's usually just a winter facial cream. It still gets used for other dry patches here and there though

Oh and I have excema so I do have to be quite careful what I use. This is never caused a flare up so I will still with my routine.

I heard the Nivea soft changed recently. I'll grab one next time I'm out and see ours are affected by the change. I'm wondering if it's also the USA version as I saw it on TT.

It's all I use now and my skin is so much clearer and softer I don't even wear foundation or concealer any more, I have easy, clear, normal skin now, it's a revelation. I just wash my face with water in the shower and apply the Nivea morning and night, nothing else softens and moisturises the same in my opinion.

Puzzlemad · 12/09/2024 14:23

Use it as a make up remover. It's a cold cream.

Foundanotherwrinkle · 12/09/2024 14:33

I use it at night. I have oily skin and makes no difference to the oiliness next day

violetsunrise · 12/09/2024 14:39

Have used it since my teens and wouldn’t use anything else. I like that it doesn’t sink in super fast and leave my skin as dry as a desert like every other face cream I’ve tried. Been a long time since my teens but I’ve never suffered from break outs and I get compliments on my skin (I always credit the Nivea). Buy a big blue pot, slap some on in the morning a good while before I put makeup on and I’m sorted. Some days I don’t even bother with the skin makeup. Less is definitely more as another poster said though.

A big tin lasts me 6 months.
