Tear Trough Fillers

Has anyone had this treatment done? If so did it work, how painful was it and would you recommend it?

I'm so conscious of the lines under my eyes, I feel like they age me so much and no matter how much sleep I get, they don't improve.

Maybe check the Tatler recommendations. I've read that mentioned before on Mumsnet

Ooh thank you I will

Tear trough fillers are for hollowing not lines. Depending where your lines are botox would be better although as far as I know botox isn’t used directly under the eye rather the outer corners. It doesn’t hurt as topical anaesthetic is applied and a cannula inserted so only one entry point. It can feel a bit weird but isn’t painful or shouldn’t be unlike lips.

Sorry yes when I say lines I mean a hollowing that results in what looks like a line (not a wrinkle line if that makes sense)

Had it done a few times, doesn't hurt, sometimes has bruising- I think that was when it was done without a canula. Definitely worth it.

I’ve had fillers and Botox over the years but I wouldn’t touch tear trough fillers . Its one of the worse areas for migrating . Have a Google , it leaves weird wrinkles/ ripples if it moves .

You need to be super careful and have it done by a aesthetic doctor/ dentist not a beautician.

It's a very risky area where the filler can cause blindness if it's put into a vein/ artery by mistake.

TBH you shouldn't assume what you need. It's much better to go to someone very good who will advise what your face needs, rather than deciding in advance what you think you need.

It doesn't last long- about 4 months.

I have a friend who had it done at the Cosmetic Skin Clinic in London and the cost was almost £1K.

I have had it done with my local Dr that also does aesthetic treatments. I had 1 ml between the 2 eyes with a cannula.
It didn't hurt, a bit of a strange feeling and I had a little swelling. The practice has very thorough before and after care which I believe makes a difference with a 2 week check up as standard.
As it's a thinner filler product it doesn't last as long as other fillers around 6 months.
I had mine done in April and I will book again for October.

TheChosenTwo · 05/09/2024 22:32

I’ve made my peace with mine after I watched a video and saw the size of the needle 😂
I have very thin skin under my eyes so they just look dark but when I can be arsed I knock it out with a tiny smear of colour corrector or whatever other scrap of makeup I can find and get on with my day.
It would still be the thing I’d like to wake up and have fixed with no pain though!

Solent123 · 05/09/2024 22:39

I've had it done, didn't hurt and still happy with effects years later - the Doctor I saw does it over two or three sessions rather than all in one go.

This article, by a clinic that does fillers, explains why they don't do tear trough fillers and what other treatments have better results that area

Thanks all, I'll have a read!

if you’re in / would travel to london, i can recommend a really good place that does a pre-assessment via email so you could find out more. polynucelotides (another type of injectable) are also meant to be good for that area & the same clinic offers that treatment too. i’ve had the filler, my friend had the other and were both really happy with the results.

AgathaX · 11/09/2024 08:11

I've been having them for over 10 years now. They make a huge difference to my under eye area. You do need to go to a skilled medic for them, someone who has lots of experience, has done lots of training and who uses the appropriate filler. I've rarely had any bruising. It is a strange sensation, but not painful. Results usually last 12 - 18 months for me.

Panic123 · 02/10/2024 19:45

@AgathaX may I ask whom does your treatment ? Feel free to dm if preferred

Ihateboris · 02/10/2024 19:52

Watch this before you decide. It's 19 minutes long but definitely worth the watch. Very concerning 😟

Piccalino3 · 02/10/2024 20:02

I see an oculoplastic surgeon for for my Botox and a little filler last time. He said he will never do tear trough filler. I've really mostly read bad things about it. Do you research carefully and maybe join a few Facebook groups about filler before you go ahead.

I have this too. I've had tear trough filler three times but it doesn't make it go away completely. I hesitantly agreed to botox under the hollow at the same time for the line and I hated it. The top half of my face didn't move at all when I smiled. I'd rather have the lines.
