Autumn / winter I need help

I haven’t really bought any clothes for the last 2 years and I’m really out of touch.
i need a coat , boots and jeans / trousers.

I live in quite a wet muddy semi rural area and wear wellies for dog walking which I found myself also wearing for going into town last year , with skinny jeans as it was the best I had. Been putting all thought into a house Reno rather than myself !

i don’t drive so it’s either a bus into town or a 45 minute walk.
I need suggestions for what to buy for everyday / weekend chores that will be warm , practical and also not look too terrible !

Watching with much interest!! Nothing to add other than my curiosity and my credit card at hand!!

I’ve just started looking at my autumn/winter wardrobe and seeing huge gaps and it all feels very dated. Lots of skinny jeans/jeggings that feel too tight 🥴…probably as a result of a summer of bare legs and now feel like they’d be wrapped in cling film!

I'm also interested in responses.

I love wearing dresses, just find them so comfy and easy to wear, so I've bought a pair of flat ankle boots with a slightly pointed toe to wear with them.

I also bought a big, cosy Lands End coat that I'm confident will see me through any poor weather. All from vinted!

I had been having great success with baggier, patterned (almost pyjama bottom-like) trousers over the summer, but I can't see them working for A/W as they're so thin and summery looking. I'm stuck a bit in trousers as it rains a lot where I'm from and it's totally impractical to wear flares or anything that's going to touch the ground.

I find parachute pants really good if you like baggy and dry trouser hems as well!
I picked up some that are pretty thick material from Primark and will be perfect for winter.
As for boots Im interested to see what other people are doing as well. Last year was so wet I think I spent most of my time in a pair of waterproof padded boots that looked like they belonged on an 80 yr old sat in a Drs waiting room (you know the type of thing!). Not fashionable in the slightest but so warm and comfy!

A small step forward would be looser jeans (you don’t have to go super-baggy - there are midway options like straight leg, boyfriend cut, barrel leg etc) over leather ankle boots (flat or with a small heel depending on what you like, eg Blundstones are very classic and will last ages). You can play with jeans length and maybe roll them up a little. Then a knit and a knee length wool coat in any colour you like/that suits you and it’s a look that’ll take you anywhere. Instead of the coat, you could dress down with a parka or dress it up with a blazer if that’s your thing. And it’s not a massive step from where you are - you might have some of those things already.

If you want a change from jeans, I’m really liking these combats for a slightly different look. On sale at the moment at Me+Em. They’re heavy cotton so I think they’ll be ok in winter - plus loads of pockets!

I don’t know if these are your types of thing but basically, if you can buy some more contemporary basics you will update your look pretty easily.

Thankyou @NewspaperDoll definitely flat boots for me I’ll check out blundstones or similar. Have never even heard of barrel leg jeans lol but I think just going a little looser is a great idea.
