What’s the most soothing thing to put on my face?

Away at the moment and have either managed to sunburn my face (despite careful spf 50 use), it’s also been really windy so that might not have helped, or I’ve used some product that my skin hates.

Skin on cheeks, forehead and chin has gone very red, started breaking out and stings like hell whenever I try to put anything on it even the most gentle stuff. Think I’ve damaged the skin barrier. I have a ‘barrier balm’ I’ve been using but it’s doing nothing and still stings.

Heading home tomorrow - what’s the best thing I can do to try to restore my face to some kind of normality. I already have the Roche effaclar cleansing lotion which I’ve used before when I had a lot of irritation and it was very gentle and good. I feel like my skin needs an absolute boat load of moisture though but I don’t know what, if anything, I should use without doing more damage. Any ideas?

It depends. If it's still irritated and needs treating then either see a pharmacist for something medicated or go for aloe vera. If it just needs help with recovery, I would go for the gentlest possible cleanser and moisturiser combo and leave well alone as far as possible. I have had a horrible time with an allergic skin reaction all this year and the best products I found for the 'recovery' phase have been Cetaphil cream cleanser (the blue sensitive one) and Embryolisse for a very plain but good quality moisturiser that won't irritate.

I found Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream used to help me with small burns.

I once advised my boss to put 8 hour cream on a burn and her hand nearly fell off.

I have eczema and sudocrem really stings. I use epaderm and then something like zeroderm when I have a flare.

That's not true at all

Vaseline works brilliantly on very sore skin

Yes it does.

Cicaplast from la roche posay might help you.
Here goes my routine if you would be interested:
Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Sebamed clear face gel,
Garnier spf
Cicaplast
Evening:
Cerave moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac
Sebamed clear facial gel

I took a terrible reaction to a new skin product and off the back of recommendations from here, bought this https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/moogoo-milk-wash-60051182?skuid=051182&utm_campaign=shopping&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD96OoKdh5_FD4dO9MR3_jwsBiP0S&gclid=Cj0KCQjwzrzABhD8ARIsANlSWNNJXzIi9-gc_p4zlLx7KLPVXK40ig0L1_87kZ6bgLtUt4r8B2U0cOEaAlSzEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds it's fantastic. Back in March I got really badly sunburnt on holiday and used it when I was home. It's brilliant stuff.

Nivea blue tub or paraffin cream. I always put it on burns and it never hurts and always helps.

Plus it’s easy to find!!
