Trainers/shoes for if you’re on your feet all day?

Started a new job last year where I’m on my feet for the majority of the day, my usual footwear isn’t cutting it and I’m struggling with pains in my feet (granted I am slightly overweight so that isn’t helping)

Any suggestions please?

I looked at Skechers but the reviews are so mixed and lots saying they fall apart easily.

Sketchers. I actually stick with the same model. Their d'lites. A solid moulded sole with good support. I replace them every 9-12 months but mine get a thorough beating as I'm severely over weight and in a very rough and ready job.

I've even converted several colleagues so we all now have matching shoes.

I also work on my feet OP and have suffered with both plantar fasciitis and extensor tendinitis.

I have found that Ecco and Clarks shoes have worked the best for me.

I did wear some skechers initially, but I found that the toe area wore through quickly and the sole lost it's friction. As a result, they became very slippery on wet floors and pavements, so I have refused to buy them since.

As an aside, I've found that stretching more frequently (e.g, a yoga or pilates class) helped a lot with the pain, as the standing up all day causes my calf muscles to tense up.

Skechers do last but I would recommend changing your shoes. I used to teach and was on my feet most of the day and I kept a second pair of shoes in my room and would change during the day.

Fly London boots are great for me. They seem to shape to your feet. I wear Crocs at home but they would be far too casual for work, unfortunately.

Adidas do a range of trainers with Ortholite soles. They have arch support and more padding than regular tennis shoe type trainers but they’re not orthopaedic looking, which I like. I’ve also bought arch support insoles before and put them into whatever shoes I choose to wear. I’ve got grumbling heel these days and I’m thinking of having some custom orthotics made.

ETA: i’m always surprised by how many people find Crocs so comfy for on your feet jobs. I don’t wear them cause I can’t bear the feel of the croc material, but I’d imagined that they’d flap about on your feet and make you curl your toes to keep them on.

Sketchers Slip on shoes are brilliant. Very good price at Sports Direct. I've found I'm a size smaller than usual with Sketchers - they come up big!

I'm on my feet a lot. It's Skechers for me. Nothing else as comfy. I wear one pair constantly and they last me a couple of years. Worth every penny.

I get mine from Pavers - they sell a limited range of Sketchers but they are cheaper.

Likewise for Skechers and checking out Pavers range for a discount 🌞

Deichmann Shoes have a handful of Skechers styles in each season too (moderate £ discount).

Crocs aren't flappy if you buy the correct size! The arch support isn't fantastic and they are fugly, but quite practical in some situations.

Oh I love my new balance 327s but I find if I wear them to work they pinch my toes a bit at the front after a full day.
love them for general wear though!

Buy a bigger size. At first I thought my NB were a bit big but now I find them then the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn.

If you are on your feet all day, it is better to wear different shoes everyday. Keeps the pressure points shifting around.

Also - Skechers.

New Balance 574, 2002r & 990v6 are all really comfortable and good support.

Yes to this
DD got a hammer toe from wearing same boots daily - they were v comfortable and I'm not sure of the mechanism but it sorted itself out once she started to wear different shoes.
It was v odd - she was only 23 and boots were almost flat Ugg biker boots 🤷🏼‍♀️
