Hair styler thingy

Hi all .... hoping for recommendations. I have blonde, fairly fine, straight(ish), shoulder length hair. I'm useless at doing much with it. If I leave it down, it's quite nice the day I wash it, but looks a bit lank by the following day. I generally wear it in a claw clip, with the ends sticking out of the top and hanging down the back. I don't really do 'groomed', more of a scruffy up-do girl. However, I have a wedding to go to in October ... and I quite fancy biggish soft curls, so my hair has volume. I've got tongs and straighteners, but can't get the look I'm after. Should I get one of those heated brush type things where you wind a section of hair round a brush that blows out hot air? Do I need some sort of lotion or mousse stuff to put on my hair first? Helped meeee please!

My friend with long hair uses the Dyson air wrap to get big soft curls and they look amazing. Definitely needs styling product before and after to hold it in place though.

I also recommend using some volumising powder in your roots. You only need a tiny dusting and then massage your roots for volume that lasts.

I would just use the curling tong and brush the curls out a bit.

Can you get a hairdresser appointment just for the one day? It might work out cheaper than buying a new product you won’t know how to use properly or probably won’t use again!

I quite like dry shampoo to help my hair along the second day, or even the day if washing if I've used too much hair oil. Can you go book a hairdresser for styling ideas session? They could probably show you how to style using your equipment?

As it's for a single event, wouldn't it make sense to get your hair styled at a salon? It'll cost a lot less than an AirWrap!

The AirWrap is brilliant if you've got that sort of money and the time to learn how to use it. For the rest of us normal folk:
• Apply root lift mousse before drying your hair
• Spray with a heat protector that's supposed to add body
• Blow dry your hair upside down, using a curved brush
• Spray with a heat protector for curls
• Use your tongs, lifting the hair up before rolling it
• Apply a setting spray for curls
• Let it settle for a bit, then separate your curls with your fingers.

Babyliss curl secret is fab, but even better for me is the heatless curl band. I wrap my slightly damp hair in it and leave overnight comes out in beautiful long lasting curls the next day. Or as pp says get a hair appointment onthe day if possible.

Dream Coat by WOW is a volumising product, & really works. Make sure you have a 'play'with it before the day of the event to get the result you want!
