Burgundy hair? Who does it suit - is it hard to maintain?

Toying with idea of burgundy hair - currently I’m a level 8 copper blonde but had a few comments that I’m looking a little washed out so considering a change for autumn.
I’ve never been burgundy before - usually veer towards auburn/copper/gold shades.
I have green hazel eyes and light warm skin tone but with some residual redness from past rosacea (going for IPL on Sept to finally address this but no guarantee it will work). Could burgundy hair accentuate facial redness?

I’m also reading mixed opinion on whether burgundy suits a cool or a warm skin tone. Some sites state cool as it has violet blue undertones but others say it’s for a warm skin tone.
So if you have burgundy hair and you love it, are you cool or warm skin toned? And if you have any facial redness, does it accentuate that?
Also, does it fade quickly?

I have a burgundy-red colour in my hair. It suits me very well and I get a lot of compliments on it. However, I do think it is commonly worn by women my age, so late 30s onwards but is not so trendy these days. Hence, it can be distinguishing for your age, in my opinion.

It is SO hard to get rid of. Any kind of red, particularly a dark red, is pretty much the hardest colour to shift. Around 2 years ago I had a hair journey - and it was a long, tedious journey - to lighten my hair. It took a lot of salon trips and a lot of money. I got to a nice ginger/copper colour. Two years later I was bored and went dark red again (where I currently am) but I'd forgotten how high the maintenance is with my greys and I'm booked in to the salon next week to start the lightening process again. I seriously regret spoiling all the work that was put in previously.

So, I'd advise caution. Dependent on your greying situation, it could be an expensive decision if you opt to change in the future. My greys are bad and I need to dye my hair every 2/3 weeks. Colour fading is less of an issue over time however you will stain every towel you own for 2 weeks after hair dye day. It is a high maintenance colour.

If you are blonde-copper, I'd suggest going for more of rich copper to start with, if you are seeking warmth. Straight to burgundy is nigh impossible to undo without destroying your hair or 12 months of effort.

Oh gosh so sounds like you want to get back to where I am now - that could be a sign to stick where I am!

Can I ask if you are cool or warm skin toned and if you have any redness in your skin?

I’m not worried about grey upkeep as I have to do an in between salon visit root touch up on part line and front every 3 weeks anyway.

Also not worried about looking dated - I’m 52 anyway - and from what I’m reading burgundy hair is going to be the “new” autumn hair shade for 2024.

I think I'm warm-toned. I'm pale, however peaches/golds are more of my go-to shades rather than pinks or blues.

On myself, I prefer the contrast of dark hair/pale skin however the dark red maintenance is too much for me now. If you're at the salon every 3 weeks anyway, that perhaps isn't a consideration for you. Its a beautiful colour and as I say, I get a lot of compliments. My greys are just running wild on me these days and I can't be bothered with the constant upkeep.

Oh god! Don’t say that!! 😂

My hair is nothing like her’s though. It’s bra length 3a/3b wild curly hair cut in a layered V/U shape.

Yes me too - warm toned - definitely can’t wear pastel pink or blue.
