Hollywood waxing advice

Hi all,

I recently had my first Hollywood wax. The results were great and I was super pleased. Following my beauticians I advice I rebooked for six weeks time, within this time hairs had grown back slowly, really fine and sparingly. I was really impressed, I couldn’t believe how little was there in time for my next appointment.

I returned after six weeks and I’m now two weeks into the second wax. This time round I’ve found the hairs have grown back a lot more quickly, they are course and I have many ingrown hairs, red bumps and itchy as if I have razor rash!!

can anyone shed some light as to why the second experience has been so different to the first?

tia

Just to add, this is with for Lycon hot wax rather than strip waxing

Your hair is on a cycle and it takes a couple of appointments for the hairs to all catch up with each other. Some months the hairs may grow back quicker depending on the hair cycleGentle exfoliation (bikini area) may help.. I believe Lycon sell a good ingrown hair product (they did when I trained in it a few years back), so maybe ask your therapist.

I had really great results for the first wax and then gradually worse and worse results, which is the exact opposite of what I'd been told would happen. I stopped eventually as it just wasn't worth the money I was spending. I got recommended to go every 3-4 weeks though, 6 seems too long between waxes. Have you ever used laser on that area? That can cause uneven regrowth and affect your wax results.

I get mine done every 4 weeks approx, I’m cabin crew so hard to have an exact schedule but I work on 4 weeks and no more than 5, it does get a lot better/easier

At first were you just as pleased with your second wax as your first? I’ve had regular Hollywood waxes for so long (they were something of a rarity when l started) l can’t remember my second wax. I’m in my 40s and olive skinned with light hair and usually go every 4 weeks. I’ve also been known to shave the regrowth between at times but don’t tell my beautician 😀; l’m sure she knows really.

Maybe the second wax wasn’t as thorough? l suggest you mention this at your next appointment and see how your third and fourth appointment go. You may want to reduce the gaps in between appointments as well. If you are still unhappy, it might pay to try another salon.
