Any recommendations of what to buy in French Supermarkets or pharmacy that might be cheaper or worth stocking up on ?

You're coming at a good time as there are a lot of discounts available as the summer holidays end. Monoprix is usually the cheapest place to buy skincare e.g. Nuxe, Caudalie and often has good offers. Sephora is always the most expensive. Embryolisse is available in pharmacies (I really like this brand.) There can be quite a difference between prices so do shop around.

If you like the Kooples, Claudie Pierlot, Ba&sh, the cashmere brands (e.g. Bompard), then, while the 'sales' are over, there are still some reductions available. Also Etam lingerie and the modern classic French brands like LSF, Faguo, Cabaïa.

Yes, from any pharmacy. It’s not the high dose stuff you can buy in the US, but still does the job (I just take 2!)

To be honest I really want it for my daughter who has stopped going to sleep at a normal time and is driving me a bit crazy. She is 8, will check the dosages!

@toomanyshoes forgot to say - thanks so much!

This honey is thick like caramel and you can get it
in supermarkets. Heaven.

I so wish I had got this. I saw it in the supermarket then walked right past. I will definitely get someone to return in September.!

The brown writing is better than the green writing (IMHO). If you like thick honey, you won't regret it. I slather it on in great wodges and it is just, hnhrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Brilliant everything really. The baby and children clothes are TDF

I always buy T-shirts and nighties in France. I’m perimenopausal so I love the cotton nighties in Auchan (cheap as chips, very simple but great for sleeping!).
I’ve bought three T-shirts- basic colours, but the fit and cut are always good. Also Auchan. I think they were about 6 euros each. I bought some two years ago, they wash well and don’t change shape!

We've just come home with rillettes, some of our favourite biscuits and not much else really. Most things you can get here pretty easily and others you can make. Confit fuck for example is very easy.

This typo made my day 😂

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 25/08/2024 17:44

That's dynamite! 😂

KevinDeBrioche · 25/08/2024 17:55

Cremant
Wine
Jams
Salted caramel in jars
Big jars of mayonnaise
Big jars of Dijon mustard
Chou Chous (caramelised nuts, so good and so cheap)
Madelines (my kids love these)
Mustard crisps
Comte crisps
Petit Marseilles shower gels

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 25/08/2024 18:01

Oops. Says something about me when my phone automatically goes for "fuck" rather than "duck".

JobbyNeuf · 25/08/2024 18:07

You can get melatonin pills in supermarkets, typically with the 'health food' / diet supplements.

Chocolateteabag · 26/08/2024 02:03

We used to get big tins of Confit Duck (Wink) with 4 portions for 8-10€ but just looked today and they are now 11.60 just for 2!

It was a "for special" at 8€ so no way was DH stomaching buying any more

Home tomorrow with very little in the car - except "lovely items" MIL has foisted given DH Hmm

If you like a creamy rich cheese with a mild fresh taste I'd recommend picking up some Cremeux de Bourgogne.

I always used to buy some for visiting family and now I have to try and smuggle it home when I visit the UK due to demands. 😅

GettingStuffed · 26/08/2024 16:51

Liquorice mento, you can't get them here and they're divine.

Cambiarenome · 26/08/2024 18:52

We always pick up some academic diaries for the new school year and Tessiere (?) fruit syrups.
