Why is there such a big warning that it's not for women?

I would only guess that it's a hormone related thing but I have no real idea

Women can use minoxidil. The dose however is different. The brand leader Regain is exactly the same ingredients for the men and women's product, but for women it only says to use once a day.
It cannot be used whilst pregnant or breastfeeding though.

I thought that's what it was. So if I use the correct dose for a woman, i won't end up with a raging beard?? 🤣

It is a strangely incompetent webpage from Boots - it has two different minimum ages for purchasing the product.
I think the higher dose in the men's version does create a risk of unwanted growth in other bits of the body, so that might be the reason that particular product is not for women.
As someone with alopecia, I did also just want to mention that there are many different causes of hairloss, and many of them won't be helped by this drug. I'm sure you probably already know that. But there is such an industry of semi-respectable businesses scamming desperate women with missing hair that I wanted just to get it on the thread

Thank you. My hair is thinning round the hair line. Dr did blood test and all came back fine, and then just wasn't bothered! My mum and nan both have thin hair so it's probably genetic, but just wanted a way to stop shedding so much hair every time I wash it 🤦🏻‍♀️

You can. But just once a day. Not twice.

They can use mens, the difference is in the dosage . Use once a day and be very careful around pets as it can be fatal to cats and dogs, not sure about rabbits/guinea pigs etc
