I have found myself in a style rut aged 46, so instead of running out shopping, I have subscribed to VOGUE and the big fashion issue has just landed. I am somewhat struggling to get inspired by it - stunning photography, some interesting articles but don’t feel any wiser on how to go about the new season shopping… It seems to capture the “zeitgeist” but not very relatable to a mid-manager in the Midlands.

Please tell me what do you enjoy about the mag, I really want to be more sophisticated in my fashion choices, will it just click in time? Thank you.

I would look for what to wear info elsewhere

I'd never bother with vogue. It's too high fashion / expensive. Try Red or something more achievable. Even they insist on a few pages of ridiculously priced stuff though.

Try instagram for inspiration.

I have a vogue subscription
Other than ultra high end fashion the articles are absolutely brilliant, there have been some extremely informative and emotional pieces on there which have taught me alot,

In regards to the fashion take the images and deconstruct them. The September issue I'm seeing alot of light knits, long skirts, ballet shoes. Then focusing on buying good quality items from the high street such as the M&S cashmere V neck and their air yarn short sleeved tops.

There is no way I'd litterally walk around in a full outfit from a Vogue editorial! But again thinking on the September issue that D&G shoot with Miley Cyrus that made me think "Ah...sheer..." then when I was looking at All Saints I saw lots of sheer fabrics so that's how I get my fashion inspiration from vogue

I think you'd be better off with instagram too, 'what to wear for' is a good place to start - I always think the Vogue type shots and catwalks are the extreme version of what's going to be in fashion, the High Street make it more wearable.

Thank you all. I do follow some really good Instagram account, as above, just mindful of them being sponsored by specific brands and wanted to broaden my horizons. Imagine the outfit, then look for ingredients rather than be offered standard ready to buy formula.
