Need hairdresser's advice

We have a situation with my 15yo DD's hair. Usually she used permanent box dye about a tone lighter than her natural hair coloure, just to make it a bit lighter. As it is summer holiday I let her use a red semi-permanent cream to get a bright red hair thinking it would wash out after 8-10 washes and by the new school year her hair will be more or less natural colour. I was wrong. It washed out a bit, but still quite bright. School is very strict regarding not narural hair colours and as it's only 2 weeks left before her school starts, we need to get rid off that red. Would appreciate a good advice re what to do. We are already stressed about it, so please refrain telling that it was stupid (I know) and other nasty things. We already know it and absolutely agree. Now we need to recify the problem.

If it's a semi, then it should was out with a strong shampoo - try Vosene or Head & Shoulders.

If she's usually using a permanent dye which is lighter than her natural hair colour, use that, it will cover the red.

A bleach bath? Bleach powder, developer and shampoo in equal measure, apply to hair for a few minutes, it will lift the red out but do keep an eye on it.

Not a hair dresser but came onto say head and shoulders. That's helped me in the past.

I feel her pain - I had very porous hair and semis never ever came out. I used to do washing up liquid but obviously that's not great for your hair.

I did try those hair dye removing kits but whilst they got rid of the colour, I was left with orange straw.

Any chance going swimming might help? I used to swim a lot and red box dyes never stayed in long at all.

Mix up crushed vitamin c tablets (or skip the crushing and buy the powder, that’s a lot easier!) with a shampoo (head and shoulders is good but any will do) and let it sit in the hair for a half hour and then rinse with warm water. Repeat if necessary! It’s drying to the hair but works so well! Better than dye removers for me ☺️

Vit c tablets and dandruff shampoo.

i used a mahogany semi permanent dye and it refused to wash out , tuned my greys pink .

I used about 25 crushed tablets ( in food processor to make them a powder);and enough dandruff shampoo to make a paste . Left it on 30-40 minutes. I didn’t think it’d worked. But when I looked in the mirror the next day my hair was pretty much back to brown.
Worth a try
