Cleanser, toner and moisturiser for very sensitive skin

Hope someone can help. I always use Vichy products and absolutely love them, but I bought a different moisturiser (still from Vichy) and my face feels red raw. Stupidly it's the same one that I bought several years ago and had a similar reaction then.

I'm going to stay off all their products for a little while - even using my regular Vichy cleanser now is aggravating my skin.

Can anyone recommend something for super-sensitive skin? Thanks.

Personally I would lose the toner and use cetaphil wash and moisturiser

Sukin sensitive cream cleanser and day cream. Drop the toner for now. Note, ceriphl was too irritating for me, only Sukin calmed me down after trying several things.

Thanks so much, everyone. I'll check those out now. The regime I had before has always worked really well for me but yes, I won't use a toner at all for a bit. It's the moisturiser that's caused the problem but oddly enough putting the cleanser on and wiping my face with a tissue has really aggravated it, even when it's been over 12 hours since I last put the moisturiser on.

Are you meant to use the Doublebase on your face?

Sorry, also if you use Doublebase moisturiser, how do you wash your face? I can't really use water on my face - my skin becomes so tight if I do.

Do nut use a kleenex on your face!. Leave out the toner. You could try Aveeno cleansing gel, though not great for make up removal, or other oat based products which are soothing. Cetraben with oat should be good. Avene is also good for sensitive skin.

I have always used Lancome Galateis cleanser and toner.

I love La Roche Posay toleraine. Mild enough to calm my skin down but still removes make up and the moisturiser is lovely.

I usually buy Vichy in Boots and I've noticed La Roche is right next to it and the packaging is almost identical. When I ordered some Vichy online I was sent a La Roche face wash for free - I wondered if they were the same company now.

Vichy is usually very mild and calming, which is why this is so weird. I might try the La Roche products when my skin calms down. It feels like it's on fire at the moment.

How else would I remove the cleanser? It's too oily to use a cloth. It's never been a problem until now - I've been using this stuff for decades and using it in the same way.

I second La Roche Posay Toleraine range. But skip the toner if your skin is sensitive. Just use a creamy cleanser or a balm/oil cleanser and a good moisturiser. Toner will aggravate your skin.

Dontbugmemalone · 18/08/2024 08:01

I have eczema and very reactive skin to so many products, it's been trial and error to find what works for sensitive skin without clogging it.

I've found that the most suitable is:

Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser
Aveeno toner (last ages as you only need a little.
I used to Paula's choice cleanser but that was too expensive in the long tem.

I buy reusable facial sponges, think they are made of cellulose. You can buy more gentle facial cloths too.

TurquoiseTortoiseToastyToes · 18/08/2024 08:05

I use Weleda cleansing balm (double cleanse and gently remove with a flannel), no toner, then Weleda skin food light. My sensitive skin is happy with that.

Cantonet · 18/08/2024 08:36

I use the blandest of all possible products due to numerous reactions over the years. I can't even use Cetaphil any longer. So Cerave oil cleanser & moisturiser in the tub. For make up removal Clinique cleansing oil or cleansing balm. However I do seem to be ok with Clinique moisture surge & the ordinary Rosehip oil.

OP I can’t use water on my skin either so anything that needs washing off is a no.

If your skin is very very dry then the Clinique cleansing balm (or Body Shop Camomile if it’s still available) have both been good. I used to wipe them off with slightly damp cotton wool pad.

But my skin isn’t as dry as it was before (as I’m now on immuno meds for eczema) so I’ve switched to Eucerin 3 in 1 miscellar water, which I use with a dry cotton wool pad. I’ve found this to be like a very gentle cleanser and toner in one. In general I find the Eucerin range very good for dry sensitive skin.

Decisionsdecisions1 · 20/08/2024 13:58

Moisturiser I just use Clinique but Cerave or Eucerin also good.

Bobbybobbins · 20/08/2024 14:16

Cleansing balm is good or a micellar water with oil in it so you can avoid water. Definitely ditch the toner. For moisturiser anything with active ingredients in is awful for my sensitive skin.

Saxendi · 20/08/2024 14:33

Really recommend La Roche Posay Toleraine range

bryceQ · 20/08/2024 22:41

The Dr Sam is a really good range and the Cleanser is great and not drying

bryceQ · 20/08/2024 22:42

Rice toner from Korean brands is really hydrating too

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 20/08/2024 22:45

Cerave hydrating wash and Cerave moisturiser, lose the toner.
