I’m swanning into my late forties, size 12, healthy, not looking too shabby (now I’m over treatment for a serious illness). But the kinds of clothes I love is changing.

Today I wore a black waisted linen dress, tan sandals and a big gold bangle and felt so much more me than I have in floral midis.

I am craving simple, understated, beautiful clothes. Rich, undazzling classic colours, gorgeous natural fabrics. Cashmere, silk, wool, leather, linen. Nothing shapeless or extreme. Comfortable, flattering, feminine cuts. This sort of thing:

I have a lot of Uniqlo too. Which I wear with interesting accessories. Those knitted dressses by Celtic are lovely, but where would I wear them in this dressed down world.

I think style is either something you have or you don't . I've seen a neighbour rock Primark and a sister look like a bag lady wearing upper brands . It's knowing what suits your body shape and accessories that will make or break an outfit .

This is true....you see alot of influencers on YT thinking they have cracked the classic look when in fact all they've done is dress head to toe in beige!
(bonus points for having an entirely beige house with zero personality as well!).

I wear them all the time. They’re very comfortable. I live in jumper dresses in the winter.

I dress in a very simple, understated fashion and all my clothes come from Tesco, primark and next. You don't need to spend a lot, a plain cotton t shirt is the same whether you are spending £5 or £50. Just make sure the fit and style suits your body type.
On the other hand I do spend a lot on accessories- jewellery, bags, shoes etc.
