Bras/tops for the large of chest and toned of shoulder!

missg00se · 15/08/2024 17:03

Just that. I've an annoyingly large bosom (38H) but my shoulders are well toned and my upper back is also objectively quite nice.

I work hard for those shoulders! (Mostly in an attempt to fend off back pain associated with carting my chest around...) And feel like if they are visible I look less egg shaped and also a bit younger. But currently unless I'm actually at the gym they are under wraps all of the time in a bid to have proper chest support.

Sleeveless tops all seem to be way too baggy under my armpits in order to accommodate said bosom, so the bra ends up on show under the armpits, which never looks good.

And I have never tried a strapless bra I have got on with. Are any of the tik tok/instagram "not a bra" solutions actually worth it at this cup size?

Or any other recommendations for shapes of tops or summer dresses that are both bra compatible and flattering for a larger chest?

Or do I just need to suck it up and accept that my future is just puff sleeves and a vaguely matronly silhouette? I actually do have a waist as well, but most of the time you wouldn't know...

Get yourself to bravissimo for a measure check and a try of different styles

Oh I'm exactly the same, slim but broad shoulders (perfect inverted triangle) comparatively speaking large boobs (measured at 30F but I wear 32DD for comfort) and I cannot for the life of me find bras that's suit, except sports bras, I really suit that racer back tank top shape of sports bras but I'd love something sexy occasionally. However the one thing I have is a brilliant strapless bra, it's the Wonderbra one, I have all the colours and the lace one too

This one as well / the both have pretty Kure racer type backs

Oh my god I've found my people.
Wide shoulders, big boobs (32F) that make me a 12 up top but a small ribcage as you can tell from my bra size, and a size 8 waist and nice shoulders that I have worked REALLY hard for. I want to show it off! But everything is so oversized and with zero stretch or shape, I need clothing that actually goes in at the waist!
I've just bought a bra - Curvy Kate - Boost Me Up padded balcony bra that in all fairness, isn't the most comfortable thing, BUT there's less cup coverage great support. So it means little tank tops and square necks are a bit more available to me now. Might be worth a go. My go-to daily bra doesn't come in your size unfortunately or I'd recommend that too.
I am finding this year that a lot more dresses are coming with shirred backs for stretch - ASOS are doing a lot of these. To me it's all about getting the neckline right - so often stuff is way too high on me and looks matronly. My only advice (and it's one I'm trying to take myself) is to do a bit of people watching and watch what other people are wearing and narrow down what you like. I've always dressed.. not modestly, but self consciously, and I realised that when I see someone with my body type who I think 'they look great' they are wearing stuff that is aimed a bit younger... I'm 33, and I'm not ready for M&S neckline, fabrics and prints, they make me look hideously frumpy. So I've been stepping out of my comfort zone a bit and focusing less on the fact someone might see my bra straps and more on the fact they WILL see my waist if I get a lovely cami dress that's the right material, or I use a belt with.
It's tough, you have my sympathies!

Exactly this! I look much better everywhere else in racer back sports bra except the chest area which looks all squashed up and weird. And I don't mind a sports bra showing the same way I do an actual bra. If only I could find a racer back sports bra with cups. Or design one and fill a very small niche in the market!

Thank you - I've been to bravissimo for a fitting. I'm definitely wearing the right size bra.

This is the shape I'm after and these are lovely if they can work for you and you find something to wear that goes with them. For me they were too wide at the front and dug in around the neck in a weird way. I was so disappointed as I thought they were the answer to my problems. Maybe I just haven't found the right dress or top.

It's hard, isn't it! I'm a good bit older but still a lower neckline suits better - but the bras are always peeping out! Maybe you're right and I should worry about it less and just wear pretty bras. Easier said than done though!

Bought a pack of M&S plunge bras in a pinch to solve an outfit problem and one of them totally separated in the middle when I was putting in on the other day - after about three wears.
