Scarves to hide a crepey neck

What are chic, fashionable ways to wear scarves? I don't mean the big, wrap scarves, I'm thinking more of cotton or silky fabric scarves that I can wear with a blouse or tee shirt.

Where are good places to buy scarves from? Any YouTubes anyone can recommend?

Charity shops

My fave from the last year is from white stuff

Unfortunately it’s not currently a fashionable look - and most people look rather dowdy in a cotton scarf.

But your neck probably doesn’t actually need to be hidden. Crepey-ness can be improved with diet and products - sagging is more difficult but yoga and exercise can help.

I love the narrow twilly scarves. I was going to add that they are in fashion at the moment but I won’t in case they were in fashion last season 🙄

I've moved into collars rather than round necks as much more flattering.

Seasalt handybands are my recommendation.

Pyreneansylvie · 15/08/2024 07:22

Was just coming on to say Seasalt handybands too, I am self conscious about my neck and these are an everyday essential for me.
Seasalt also do circle scarves which can be wrapped around 2 or 3 times. They have multibuys on most of their accessories on the website but you can occasionally pick up scarves and handybands quite cheaply on the Seasalt Ebay outlet.

If you're looking to build up a stock, trawl the charity shops. I buy the rectangular type, then sew the short ends together to create a continuous band.

Slip it over the head, give it a twist under the chin to make a figure of eight. Slip the long loop over your head for a second time.

Bring the slack to the front, give it another twist at the front (two twists if fabric allows) and slip it over the head for a third time. You should end up with all the knots at the front and three layers of fabric around your neck.

I know it's not for everyone but I had a saggy neck after weightloss and went for Nefertiti botox the other day and my neck looks 10 years younger. I am delighted

I think they just draw your eye to the problem area, I tried scarves a decade ago and could tell people were looking at me weird. I tend to wear a statement necklace to draw the eye away.n

Thank you for all your suggestions

No recommendations, lots of empathy and if you haven't read this, you probably should! She's a brilliant writer and the book touches on many aspects of womanhood

I wear scarves. I don't feel bad about my neck. I'm not dowdy.

Scarves are not inherently dowdy, although some may well be dowdy; scarves do not make a person dowdy; adding or removing a scarf will not make the slightest difference to general stylishness or dowdiness.

The phrase " statement necklace" sets my teeth on edge; and a " statement necklace to add a pop of colour" dislodges my fillings.

InTheBleakMidsummer · 15/08/2024 10:56

Now, now … Grin

I didn’t say, and don’t believe, that scarves themselves are inherently dowdy.

I wear scarves. I don't feel bad about my neck. I'm not dowdy.

This is the point. A person wanting a scarf to hide their neck will not necessarily be the same person as the one who can wear a scarf with pizzazz.

adding or removing a scarf will not make the slightest difference to general stylishness or dowdiness.

You weren’t in front of my mirror yesterday evening. Outfit - fine. Added scarf - fussy. Subtracted scarf - relief.

@MissMarplesNiece for moderate (rather than perhaps medically or weight loss induced) neck issues, Paula’s Choice Skin Smoothing Retinol Body Treatment can make a noticeable difference while you’re using it. Not a miraculous difference, more like a soft focus filter.

I love a scarf, but in more of an ageing hippie kind of way!

Arent funnel or high necked coming into fashion tho? You could invest in this trend to hide your neck.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 15/08/2024 11:02

But on the other hand adding a scarf to this coat elevates it.

Plain Mackintosh

But I agree that if the only reason for adding a scarf is to hide your neck, it's probably not a good starting point for wearing one.
