Nervous about having fillers

I've never had any type of fillers but I'm feeling fed up as my 'marionette' lines have become really noticeable. I feel they are really aging me. I've tried creams but they haven't worked.

I'm going on holiday on Sunday and have decided to have fillers this afternoon. Am I mad? Will I regret this?
They have said that there may be bruising/swelling for up to 5 days.

If anyone has any experience (good & bad) please share them with me.

My stomach is in knots! 😬

I would wait until after your holiday but if you want it try it go for it. It's how you feel not anyone else and nothing wrong with a bit of vanity and wanting to look your best

Hey OP you were right to cancel before flying. Flying isn't recommended for at least a week or two after fillers. I would suggest finding a medically trained professional who will assess your features and recommend the best course of action. Fillers always look best when other people think you look more refreshed but can't work out why. Always check the aesthetician is a qualified medical professional on the appropriate website. If they're claiming to be a Dr they will be on the gmc website. I know a fantastic Dr who is London based so if you're near/in London I'd be happy to share their details with you

Oh why can't the 'aging is a gift' contingent ever leave these threads alone. People like and want different things in life and for themselves, leave them to it.

OP I'm leaning towards getting this done but it's just a bit expensive for now, but following this thread!

Sorry, I know it's none of my business but I'm glad you cancelled as face work looks awful. It is obvious and telltale, it looks awful and the woman looks worse, never better. I'm about to turn 50 in 4 weeks and will never do facial plastic surgery because we have all seen how fake it looks, remember the Friends reunion??? I was shocked. I'm so glad you cancelled xxxx have a lovely holiday

If you can see it's been done, it's been done badly.

It's a simple as that.

Anyone who appears to have had fillers (very obvious ones) has gone to someone inexperienced.

You can always tell, even when it's done very well. What would be the point otherwise?

Everyone knows, "you look refreshed" is a euphemism for "you've had work".

Whether you care or not is up to you, but don't kid yourself.

BlackSwan · 14/08/2024 19:38

The first time you have fillers - if it's done well, you will look brilliant. It's rounds 2 onwards where you can run into trouble, no matter how good your injector is.

The question is whether you would prefer to look like you have had something done, or whether you want to look your age. Not everyone ages well. I'm not into the no-intervention look for me.

PreciousMahoney · 14/08/2024 19:50

Well no you can't always tell, if it's done properly there are thousands walking around with them and I guarantee you will have looked or spoken to them and not known.

We are all on style and beauty for a reason, some of us have acrylic nails, laminated eyebrows, tattoos, others dislike them and prefer a more natural look. Noone is wrong, it's what YOU prefer.

I'm in my 60s and have fillers, I look and feel better than without them. My 2 daughters who wouldn't miss me and hit the wall if they looked crap have said they make me look not sad any more, my mouth pointed right down with deep lines before. They know because they are my daughters but said they dont look "done". I'm not stupid and think I look younger because I don't.

Do what makes you feel good.

Alittlebitfluffy · 14/08/2024 21:47

You'll be bruised for a good 5 days most likely. I wouldn't do it bang on a holiday personally

canyouseemyhousefromhere · 14/08/2024 22:53

Thank you for all your comments. I cancelled as I was worried about going away with bruising or swelling. I will do a little more research when I get home.

I was very interested to hear about having the filler in your cheeks to lessen the droopy mouth and marionette lines so thank you for mentioning that.

Thanks againSmile
