Please give me your (affordable) wins for improving your processed, menopausal hair!

I want to go from blonde to white blonde/platinum but need to get my hair healthy first.

My hair has thinned, and a lifetime of dying it blonde means I need to keep it's condition good but it's quite dry these days.

I have a chronic health condition which doesn't help going to start supplements for my hair but which ones? Some are so expensive - are the cheaper ones as effective?

Any recommendations for high st shampoo & conditioner?

What about a good mask?

Best supplement is sunshine. Warmth helps.

Unless prescribed at medical levels most supplements don’t. GPs recommend Vitamin D for everyone.

So I’d start with a really good diet. Heaps of fruit and vegetables, olive oil, fish, nuts, seeds, And then plenty of sleep. And the very gentlest products on your hair and scalp.

Agree with PP about looking at your diet.

Then get a decent shampoo and conditioner. Kerastase is pricey but really good, they do a few different ones depending on your hair type. I use the blonde absolu as I bleach my hair and it’s made a huge difference in terms of keeping it soft. My hairdresser also recommends getting a wet brush and brushing your hair in the shower to minimise breakage.

I have dry, dyed menopausal hair and it is a struggle to get it to look like something other then straw!
I use all cheap high st stuff. Aussie shampoo, then a Garnier hair mask I leave on for 15 minutes then a superdrug leave in oil spray and then air dry. Makes my hair slightly more healthy looking!

Supplements: vit D and all the Bs. Collagen, maybe iron if you're low, but the real game changer if it's hormonal is HRT. If you ever experienced the effect of hormones on hair in pregnancy, then that's what I'm talking about!

Thanks all. @5128gap does it matter which brand of supplement?

My health condition means I have to keep quite a narrow diet so I can't just eat more of the good stuff unfortunately.

Will look at garnier & keratase...I'm already on hrt!

Go darker and stay away from the bleach.

I have revived my peri menopausal dry over processed hair by only touching ip my grey roots with light brown dye.
It's been 6 months since any bleach and the condition and length has improved so much.

I have a balayage effect now and it's so flattering

I take vit D, B12, biotin, collagen and omega 3, the cheapest brands I can find. I don't know which of them do the trick, but as a cocktail they've definitely improved my hair skin snd nails.

@misssunshine4040 darker doesn't suit me unfortunately but I take your point about the bleach & will look into bayalage

@5128gap thank you , that's good to know

Biotin is really good.
Try co-washing too.
