Where to get dd measured for a bra

DD16 has worn braettes until now, but would like a proper bra, how does one work out sizes these days?

Look up boob or bust method. Don't go to m and s.

How big is she, give or take. I 'pre-measured' DD as a 28E, then took her to Bravissimo to confirm and try on bras. Once we had the size confirmed, we purchased a good strapless bra there and a few cheaper day-to-day bras from M&S.

I’d say about 30-32 B/C, not busty enough for bravissimo I think. But I guess they would still measure her though?

Ignore the usual standard MN don't to M&S comments

I took DD to M&S and they were lovely measuring her up and trying out various styles etc and sizes to get it exactly right

With me a lady at M&S just looked at me and could tell me my exact bra size

I tried a few and my boobs look fabulous now with the right size and style

Try John Lewis. It's a shame Debenhams has closed as they were good for that sort of thing.

We had a positive experience with M and S too when dd was about 10. They were really good with her and the bra was perfect but didn’t last very long as she had a massive growth spurt and hates bra’s and will only wear Calvin Klein bralettes which are not very supportive for her as her boobs are huge for a 13 year old but she has autism and has sensory issues so I’m waiting until she’s a bit older before going back to M and S to get fitted again.

The range of bra’s was great and catered for all budgets I thought. You can’t go wrong with M and S in my opinion.

OP if you measure at home using the boob or bust method, you'll get a really good idea... Your daughter might prefer a 'sister size' (eg DD is 28E but prefers a 30DD for day-to-day wear). I agree M&S is a good place to try on bras if you are a standard size but I've never been well measured there, so I would go in knowing what you need.

Since lockdown I wear the CK braettes! So comfy.

I'd definitely do a measure up at home and then get a big pile delivered to try on and send back what doesn't fit. Measuring in store is really dependent on the individual. I have found that being small sized I generally have a poor experience in bra shops which are quite reasonably focussing on the average boobs which are at least a DD so way bigger than mine. Trying lots on is a great way to find what fits and what is comfy regardless of the size on the label. I've had success for my teen DD from Next and M&S.
