What colour knickers under see thru trousers

So I've bought a couple of pairs of really thin trousers they were in the beach section of primark. And I have a very floaty dress. Am off to the shops in the morning but what colour underwear should I get. White for the white trousers? Or nude? Am clueless I haven't been abroad for many many years and have forgotten how to do this stuff!!!

OP posts:

If they're the sort of floaty beach trousers I'm picturing I don't think even nude or red underwear will work. They're meant to be worn over swimwear, so you'd probably wear white trousers over a white bikini or swimsuit. It's the look. I wouldn't personally wear them as proper trousers to dinner or the bar, for example.

Turophilic · 10/08/2024 09:35

I kind of hate that they call a colour Nude. Because it’s not Nude on an awful lot of people’s skin.

Anyway, closest knicker colour to your skin tone (but now I want to buy a red pair just to try it)

rainbowsparkle28 · 10/08/2024 09:36

Nude. White under white will show.

LlynTegid · 10/08/2024 09:37

I wish others had asked the same question as you OP. Some of the colour combinations I see (if I can use the term) just look awful.

I have tried to respond in practical terms up thread, posted in the middle of the night while waiting for an overseas call.

To add now it’s morning, posts like this do tend to baffle me. If your knickers show a bit (maybe different if they are “screaming” at others) all it means is that you have knickers on, which most of us wear most of the time. Yet people wear things wanting to convince the world that they are not wearing any.

I think you’re going down a weird Pervy rabbit hole. No one is trying to make people think they are knickerless. 🤮

I think that’s uncalled for. Long time MNetter here, certainly not weird or pervy. The point l was trying to make, was that if your knickers show, all it means is that you have knickers on!

notacooldad · 10/08/2024 10:20

My bra lady told me red bras don’t show through white t shirts. She was right.
I've never heard of that. Thanks for that tip, I'll try it out. 😊
I've always worn nude or cream colours depending on how thick the material is.

Of course it’s weird and Pervy to say people not wanting to have their knickers visible are trying to make people think they’ve none on. 🤯

That’s the visual image flesh coloured knickers create! Over and out!

AncientAndModern1 · 10/08/2024 10:31

Chantelle makes the nude knickers out there. Extremely soft and completely invisible under sheer white clothes and comes in a wide variety of ‘nude’ shades for all skin colours. John Lewis has them in store https://www.chantillyonline.co.uk/our-brands-chantelle-soft-stretch.irc

Not for me they don’t. No more than a thong makes me think that in a solid colour. I guess we both view women’s arses differently. Whether they are wearing knickers or not doesn’t occur to me.

AncientAndModern1 · 10/08/2024 10:33

Red def does not work under semi-sheer fabrics such as thin linen.

For the record l have been a regular S&B poster since 2019 and have my own woman’s arse of 40+ years. I’ve received thanks for many of my posts including this thread. Over the years, I’ve been called a slut and told on MN that they had names for girls like me when they were at school. But this is a first.

Exactly

based on your description- these types of trousers are supposed to be worn to show off your bikini. The underwear as outerwear look, but for beach bars.

you are going to be able to see nude thong through them and you will just look like you haven’t looked in a mirror before you leave

Nude means the closest colour yo you skin tone - hence ‘nude’

Its the same thing - what are you on about?

SaintHonoria · 10/08/2024 11:19

Cyclingmummy1 · 10/08/2024 11:25

I only wear flesh coloures underwear. Makes decisions much easier.

Nannyfannybanny · 10/08/2024 11:29

I didn't put nude I put flesh coloured, and the m and s ones come in lots of different colours.

Mum2GirlSs · 10/08/2024 11:42

Nude or red

I always get the seamless no VPL and you never see them

MissFritton65 · 10/08/2024 11:56

Definitely red; I was told by an assistant in a boutique and she was absolutely right!

Yes that's what I'm thinking too. There is a pool but my swimsuit is navy. Would that look weird . Navy swimsuit under see thru trousers

OP posts:
MissFritton65 · 10/08/2024 13:23

@spanieleyes22 if you are wearing them around a pool/beach over a swimsuit, you may not have a shirt on or an open shirt so it'll be obviously you are wearing a navy swimsuit!
Personally I think I only matters in more formal settings. You won't wear navy knickers under white trousers if going out for dinner!
