AIBU to wish cosmetics had 'best before' dates?

I know they have the number of months they're good for once opened in the little pot-shaped icon on them, but unless I write on each bottle the date that I bought it, I never know how long it's been!

I have an open St Tropez gradual tan bottle sitting in my drawer that I really want to use, but I can't for the life of me remember when I bought it and the last thing I want is a weird curdled tan all over my legs 😄

Anyone else a slow user of products like me? Will it probably be fine even if it has been more than 12 months since I opened it?

Try it on a hidden spot first, like on your tummy?

@Fedupandstressed see this is the kind of sensible, smart, delayed-gratification idea that a sane person would have 😂

A year or two will be fine. I’d just slap it on, but the PP above of course has a better approach.

I'd slap it on and take the risk. If it were SPF, I wouldn't take the chance

@doyoulikemyyams go onto checkfresh.com put in the batch code and it will give you the date of manufacture and the shelf life, it might give you a clue how long you have had it.

People have been using old cosmetic for years without too many issues, it's not going to curdle on you, just have more bacteria in than you might like.

And going forward you absolutely should write 'opened' dates on them. There's a lot of things in the kitchen that would benefit from that as well.
