Big black pants - where to buy?

Wowzel · 05/08/2024 17:53

For years I have bought the big black pants from m&s, full cover and up to the belly button!

Until now. The ones I bought this week feel cheap, are see through and are frankly just not as nice as they used to be.

Can anyone recommend an alternative?

Men don't get a say, so wear what you want.

Wirapa knickers from Amazon. I binned all my other pants after buying these.

I did the same!

Slightly off-piste, but I’m wondering what you wear your big black pants with? I use them as the bottoms to all my black lace bras as can’t bear tiny pants. I think it’s a good look but do wonder what men think about BBP

I don't give a shiny shit what men think about my big black pants. I have to wear them. They don't.

Doggymummar · 06/08/2024 08:42

My husband never sees me getting dressed or undressed so I am sure he has no opinion on the matter, he pegs them out same as it they were pink or green

Newgirls · 06/08/2024 08:46

Men wear big shorts so it’s the same right? My guess is it looks sporty. If it matters …

Men should be feeling extremely pleased and happy if they see any woman's pants.

AnotherNaCha · 06/08/2024 12:41

Hmmm well I don’t care at all what a man thinks about my pants, I’m still wearing them no matter what. Comfort rules and I find tiny ones unsexy. I was asking out of curiosity if men and women for that matter found them sexy. I think that’s a decent question to ask without going down the “who cares what they think” route.

This is funny seeing this thread today
so I hang my big black pants on a long clip hanger that I got with a pair of trousers and then hang it up on the door frame of a cupboard next door my clothes horse, it works well as I can fit a good 8-10 pairs on it if I need to and it leaves room on the clothes horse for socks.
anyway dp was going in the cupboard for something so I pulled the clothes horse out the way so he could open the door and he started laughing and said it’s the massive pants that are in the way not the clothes horse. Just to clarify he couldn’t give a shit what pants I wear he was just being funny.

I have also been wearing M&S for years but the last two packs have been terrible quality.
iv tried quite a few others peacocks,Tesco,tu, but I’ve been disappointed as none of the rest of them seem to be big enough on the arse!
is anyone else finding that with the other brands you’ve been trying?

StuckOnTheCeiling · 06/08/2024 13:32

I’m a recent wirapa convert too. They are fairly substantial, not shaping but also not very thin. Which is exactly what I want in a pair of pants personally!

NewYearNewName2024 · 06/08/2024 13:47

@StuckOnTheCeiling - if you don't mind, could you give an idea of sizing, ie I'm a size 16, would you suggest a L or XL?

JumpinJellyfish · 06/08/2024 13:55

I get mine from M&S but think I will
renew and try some other brands.

I think they look nice in a kind of 1950s way. DH doesn’t care and even if he did I wouldn’t change them. I bought them
to wear when I was pregnant and then just never went back 🤣

Large!

PostPartumFun · 06/08/2024 14:23

These are really comfortable, stay in place, soft and not too thin without feeling heavy. https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-ribbed-full-briefs-pack-of-3-multi/p4876749

They don’t do the exact same ones in black at John Lewis but their black full briefs might be similar in comfort.

That’s what happened to me too - pregnancy big m and s pants then never went back (they lasted for years). Also think they look 1950s.

Sparkletastic · 06/08/2024 15:22

I too bought a pack of Wirapa from Amazon after reading all the recommendations on here. Life changing. Proper sturdy cotton pants without being ugly.

My new asda knickers are very snuggly on the arse. They are also happy to snuggle my big stomach 😬 I've got the midi but they also sell full briefs.

These from Matalan are my very favourites.....best big knickers I've had in ages!

www.matalan.co.uk/lingerie/lingerie/4-pack-lace-trim-full-black-black/14709931.html

These are what I have been looking for! They look like the ones I used to get from M&S but they have gone crap now, I literally never go to matalan so it hadn't occurred to me to try there

mybeautifulhorse · 07/08/2024 11:53

I couldn't care less what my DH thinks of my underwear, I can't wear proper bras since I had surgery on my chest last year either so between my crop tops and my massive pants I'm not really out to impress!

EraOfTheGrey · 07/08/2024 18:06

I've just bought some 'Step One' pants and OMG they are so very comfortable.

Well same when I was in a long term relationship. I’m back dating now and am keeping the big pants, but that’s why I asked… my days of flimsy little silky things are long gone

TizerorFizz · 07/08/2024 18:39

Sloggi maxi. Do the job and don’t wear out!

mybeautifulhorse · 09/08/2024 09:17

@AnotherNaCha ah yes, to be fair if I was dating I would probably want to up my pants game a bit too!

Anyway I'm just back to report on the wirarpas - I'm very happy with them. Decent coverage and high waist without being too ugly and feel nice and 'holdy in' too. More of a sporty aesthetic than sexy but I'd definitely recommend them.

sanityisamyth · 09/08/2024 10:04

Snags knickers are great! Very comfy.

Somepeoplearesnippy · 09/08/2024 11:58

Primark pants (like Primark t shirts and vest tops) are the best. Great quality, wash well and last forever. I wear the Lycra big pants in the winter and the equally comfortable big cotton ones in the summer.

I wear mine with everything, unless it's a light thing then nude or white.
Couldn't care less what a man thinks.
