If I won the Euromillions, how would I fix my skin?

I've tried so many things and nothing seems to help my terrible skin. I was wondering - the uber-rich would just throw money at the problem, but what exactly would I have done if money wasn't an object (it is, unfortunately)?
My face goes red if I get hot/cold/sweaty etc. I have some great products to help with this, but I also have massive pores, so everything just disappears after half an hour, leaving me looking like a hot sweaty mess again. I'm 50 and menopausal.
Would I get micro-needling? Or laser treatment? Each dermatologist seems to specialise in a different method, so if I went to a laser dermatologist, they aren't going to tell me I need micro-needling, are they?
It's all imaginary anyway, unless I go out and buy a lottery ticket....

Obagi nu derm regime is incredible. Its centred around tret and hydroquinone, which are prescription only in the UK and pretty strong. They make your skin peel like mad, revealing brighter, smoother skin underneath. However, if you're already red and dry and sensitive, that might not be right for you. Get straight in to dermatica. They'll do an online consultation and prescribe a regime for you. You can get started on this whilst you're looking for something else.

Re finding a consultant dermatologist - I’d recommend finding one that does a mix of private and NHS work as they have usually had solid NHS training and experience. Think about whether you want a female one (I had eczema all over so had to take my clothes off!).

Personally I’ve found HCA consultants generally good and found Dr Rachael Morris Jones excellent, after a recommendation from a doctor friend. But really depends where you live etc.

As well as experience with your condition, you want someone who has empathy and is pragmatic. I’ve never been advised to use expensive products, facials or laser or microneedling etc. The only product my consultant recommended (a suncream called Altruist) is very affordable and others have recommended on MN for eczema prone skin.

A much better diet?

Improving my diet worsened my rosacea. It calmed down once I went back to having pastries and coffee. Yes I don't get it either.

Thanks @Decisionsdecisions1 .
She seems good. If she only recommended a SPF, how did she 'fix' your skin? Did she prescribe lotions etc? Feel free to be as vague as you like when answering, I don't want to get too personal!

Have you tried Soolantra too?

Can I ask - and I mean this gently - has anyone tried HRT?
I have always had great skin but in the last couple of years I’ve become a red sweaty faced mess. I have been wondering whether this is a meno symptom. Has anyone had any success tackling it via HRT? Is anyone who’s still on HRT still getting rosacea symptoms?

AnnaMagnani · 08/08/2024 21:06

Not convinced HRT would be the answer.

It brought my spots back and TBH the only good thing about being peri was having drier skin and no spots.
