Planning a small registry office wedding followed by food and drinks in a restaurant or pub. Don’t want to look too flamboyant but want to feel special. (Never spent more than £80 on a dress in my life so anything more than that will do the job 😄👍)

Criteria:

  • Budget £100-£250 ish.
  • Not anything from the bridal section and probably not from bridesmaids section either. Probably more “wedding guest”
  • Colourwise - Not white, and not ivory or cream or anything like that. Probably not pastels either, although I do like sage green, dusty rose and coral. Basically just not too “bridey”.

About me:

  • I love black and I love bold colours
  • I’m 36 years old
  • I have medium brown skin and dark hair
  • I’m a size 12 ish, blessed with small waist and big bum 🙏. Small boobs.
  • I’m half Asian and I do like things that look a bit Asian inspired (but not restricted to that!)
  • I like to think of myself as being a bit “alternative” but not too much! Just a little smidge 😊

I like these:

https://farmrio.uk/products/dark-green-guipure-long-sleeve-maxi-dress?_pos=14&_sid=6dfa8d379&_ss=r

https://raishma.co.uk/products/olive-dress?_pos=1&_sid=fb6ce2963&_ss=r

and ok this one is a little flamboyant but I like it
https://raishma.co.uk/products/skye-gown?_pos=2&_sid=a9ea0c5c6&_ss=r

Shoe criteria:

I’m size 7 so big-ish, have bunions and fungal toenails (yay 😂) so needs to be a wide fitting style and closed toe ideally.

Don’t mind flats, wedges or heels of any height. Just as long as they fit, look good (not like some orthopaedic granny shoe) and are comfortable. For these reasons I tend to prefer chunkier styles but open to suggestions.

Thank you!!! ❤️ 🙏

Another vote for Sika Designs - I think the cut of their dresses would suit your body, and the designs/prints are just gorgeous.

Not sure I can help with a dress, but I did find a rather nice website for some good shoes recently, for a wedding I was attending. I have plantar fasciitis, and have to wear prescription insoles, so shoes can be a bit of a nightmare. But I bought from this company and had a lovely comfortable day, shoes are superb quality, I can wear them again, and I easily glammed my choice up by adding some Swarovski crystals. Might work for you?

I would take a look on Kaleidoscope website for dresses, lots of different designers, styles, colours, prices.

Have a lovely wedding🙂

The first farm Rio one!!

JonnyTheDogFacedBoy · 06/08/2024 21:22

I don't think the first 3 dresses you posted are special enough, but that last blue dress is jaw dropping. Please wear that. At least order it and try it on. It's really great and will definitely suit your colouring.

The blue Raishma dress is wonderful!

more skin showing than your options but the cut and colour of this could be amazing www.vinted.co.uk/items/4493415831-stunning-swarovski-racing-green-evening-dress-size-12

This one is stunning ❤️

I absolutely love the third dress, the SKYE gown. It is beautiful and would look just perfect. The others are ordinary and I particularly don't like the green.

TayceOnToast · 07/08/2024 21:11

Wow thanks so much everyone!!
I actually thought I had deleted this post but evidently not 🙈- glad I didn’t.
I loved the recommendations for Sika and Heritage Clothing. Never heard of those before so thanks so much for those. (Tbh I had never heard of Raishma or Farm Rio either until the other day from someone on MN!)
I can never usually think beyond H&M or New Look so this is really great, thanks everyone x

The Skye gown is perfect. You can be a bit flamboyant on your wedding day and it will suit your colouring too.

You have already nailed it.

I think this is beautiful - _https://raishma.co.uk/products/skye-gown?_pos=2&_sid=a9ea0c5c6&ss=r

Be bold. It's an epic dress.

Yes OP, you have great taste. And this dress is a knockout.

sashh · 08/08/2024 04:52

I love your first two choices but the last one is stunning.

On the shoe front, look at Esska. I wore Charlies from Esska for my wedding day. Super comfy. They now do a closed toe version called Chaza. They also wide fit and a huge variety of colours.
