The perennial battle between being blonde and having hair long and in good condition!

Hello

I'm 41 and have been having blonde highlights since I was 18. (Apart from one disastrous experiment trying to copy Cheryl Cole's hair when she was on x-factor).

My normal hair is a not particularly nice medium brown colour. Wavy. Fairly thick and grows to a decent length. I have only one or two greys. My skin is very pale so a dark-ish curtain of hair doesn't look terribly flattering.

I've got fed up with the time and money of trying to have long blonde hair. And the battle against dark roots and brassiness. And frizz due to the damage.

I don't know what to do! Currently it's grown out and looks sort of balayage I suppose. But that makes it look like I have greasy roots.

What to do?!

  • blonde & shorter - possibly would need a lot of styling
  • natural colour & long/good condition - might look a bit frumpy
  • buzz cut and buy one of the fab wigs out there these days!

I'd do blonde and shorter, but with less highlights than you currently have, so it's less of an issue growing out.

I have similar colour hair, but not thick. I've tried various lengths and colours, but always end up back at blonde as it works for me the best.

You notice a lot of women who dye blonde go shorter every year. Your hair changes a lot as we age and can’t take the colouring.
