Best places for jewellery

I recently got a few thousand pounds inheritance from my grandma and I'd like to buy a nice ring. Nothing massive, but something special and made to last. I'm thinking maybe second hand, or from somewhere independent, not a high street chain. But I'm not sure where to look?
I don't want to spend it all, but would spend up to about £1,500 (but that's the very top end).

Does anyone know of any places they'd recommend for this?

That’s lovely

Do you know who inherited your Grandmas jewellery?
There may be something that could be passed onto you

Well that's the thing - she had quite bad dementia and a few years ago lost her engagement ring. She died last year, house has been emptied and sold and it never turned up. That was in her will as being left to me. So that's why I'm looking for something to buy - not to replace it like for like necessarily (although it was very pretty, two diamonds and three sapphires), but to have something special.

Have a look at Jeremy Herber.

I like Carole Franks, a small one-woman dealer. I bought a beautiful ring from her a few years ago, also with an inheritance.

What area are you? It's nicer to buy jewellery in person, I think.

South East, can easily get into London.

Local to me there's a gorgeous jewellery shop in Stoke Newington in north London. She also sells online.

Get the train to Birmingham and look around the Jewellery Quarter - lots of independent shops/studios (incl both new and second hand/antique) and you'd get much better value than in London
