Help me and my ugly legs

Please help me find solutions to fix my ugly legs. I'll add some photos to show you what I'm working with.

The weather is finally nice and I'm sad that yet again, I am unable to wear shorts or skirts. Instead I feel the need to cover up and hide them away. I'm only 30, so I feel too young to have legs that look like this.

My skin is very white and transparent and I have loads of very visible blue and purple veins. This wouldn't bother too much if I didn't have the other issues. My hair is very thick and dark and I always have very angry, red looking pores around each hair follicle.

Shaving makes the red marks look more angry and worse. Exfoliating makes absolutely no difference. Waxing causes ingrown hairs and lumps. Tanning is out of the question due to a history of skin cancer and fake tan makes the redness and dark stubble more prominent. I shower and moisturise daily and take good care of my skin but it's just so UGLY!

I have tried to wear natural coloured tights, but these make me more hot an sweaty than what I would be with trousers.

Please help a desperate woman find a solution, so I can be comfortable and confident in nice summer clothing.

Stop shaving and let the hair grow out. If it helps, get slightly longer shorts if your present ones are very short, and remind yourself that you're existing out in the world in the same way a man would without thinking about it at all. You're an adult mammal, so you grow hair on your legs. Hair will make the marks less prominent and the rest will stop further aggravation of your skin.

I don't shave that often due to the fact I always wear trousers. Probably twice a month, if that.

I wish I had the confidence to embrace the hair, but sadly I'm conditioned to think it's ugly for women to have hairy legs, and I can't get past that.

What about trying epilation, rather than shaving or waxing? May look slightly more angry in the short term but hopefully less visible long term?

I find this gives me the same results as waxing. As soon as the hairs grow back, I have loads of ingrown bumps and lumps.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'm going to give the lumea a try I think.

It's pricey but it will be worth it if it works.

My legs were worse as I'm a picker. Laser was the best thing for me, as if the hair isn't there it can't get ingrown or the hair follicle won't be red and angry.
Chemical exfoliants- not scrubs also helped fade the marks. I used tend skin and the nip fab pads. I'm also the weirdo that likes the smell of ameliorate!!!
I found that if you keep up with the exfoliating the marks fade quickly.
I now have the lumea for maintenance but it's probably just once a year I have to use it.

This range. It gets rid of bumps on upper arms too
The lotion stinks Grin but it works

I'm using this with some success. The blocked hair follicles need to be deep cleaned so their clay wash helps, then I use the spray and the lotion. There are usually deals on lookfantastic

I know everyone has said this already, but I used to have that exact same problem (and didn't know it was called strawberry legs!), and Lumea totally fixed it. If you have very pale skin and very dark body hair then you can always see the roots, even if you have just shaved. It took about 18 months, but now I have no hair on my legs at all, and lovely clear skin. I wish I had known about it 20 year earlier! Would have saved embarrassment (although I'm sure no-one else really notices, but I was always very conscious of it). Good luck!

Temporarily, have you tried Veet hair removal cream?

GettingStuffed · 29/07/2024 11:49

Remember most people see your legs at a distance so what, to you, ugly marks can't be seen by others.

I love maxi dresses . I have smarter ones with collars and buttons for work and more casual ones for home .

Truly, cannot recommend laser hair removal enough. Changed my life. Probably one of the best things I ever did.

My legs (and body) were like yours. I had about ten sessions. You need to find the right practitioner - an Alexandrite laser is best (although they are older), and not IPL. Now I have no bumps, no ingrown hairs, no visible follicles, no redness, nothing. Just the odd hair here and there which I don't really notice or can shave off in a few seconds.

If you can't afford it, consider a home IPL device. It's not as good as salon laser, but if you use it regularly and continually it should really help a lot. Eventually, you may only need to use it once a month or so and your skin should look so much better.
