..it needs cutting/trimming but i cant make up my mind whether to change it

i always had chort cropped hair so only grown it into this in the last year

i dye it myself and find it cheap cois i dont have to go to the hairdressers but on the other hand i read that older women should have short hair

the plus side is that like this it doesnt require any work tho it does get in my face some of the time

like this?

PerkinWarbeck · 14/04/2008 08:16

I have just clicked on your profile.

your hair looks vg in the last photo
"older woman" my arse.

bellavita · 14/04/2008 08:17

How about taking the weight out of the sides and having a few layers put in?

bellavita · 14/04/2008 08:18

Furball - just looked at that picture and that is exactly what I had in mind - would look fab.

zippitippitoes · 14/04/2008 08:23

in the holiday pics i didnt have a hairdrier or anythiung so it is just washed and left in that balcony one the other two i hadnt done it since leaving home was a weekend a way last week and too cheapskate to pay for a suitcase on ryanair

i am quite low maintenance for preference

i am older woman tho

I think it looks great and you are absolutely right about the maintenance, that's the problem with layers and a shorter "do". If you're not careful you could find yourself having to get the hairdryer out every morning and even apply product.

zippitippitoes · 14/04/2008 08:41

actually you have reminded me about one thing i used to find which was it going flat or pointing the wroing way when layered and it isnt a good look when you wake up

i just find it realy hard to look at it as though its soemone else

and i am starting to look like my big sister

I like the length. You have great hair from the looks of it - quite thick? Definitely not 'too long'.

zippitippitoes · 14/04/2008 08:47

it is fine but thick

i dye it every 6 weeks tho

i think i read somewhere that it makes you look older having it longer or something

OP posts:
MrsMattie · 14/04/2008 08:49

I only think that applies to having very long hair@zippi. You know when you see someone walking down the street with very long blonde hair and from behind they look about 21 - then they turn around and they are actually 61? That's not a good look. But your hair is definitely not too long, and it's a nice style and in good condition. You look great, woman!

moreJellothanJlo · 14/04/2008 08:50

zippi your hair looks really nice, thick and healthy

TillyScoutsmum · 14/04/2008 08:53

I don't think it looks "too long"... I too am not sure about anything past shoulder length on women over a certain age - but yours is fine (and you don't look old anyway)

I would stay away from too many layers. I made the mistake of having layers cut into my bob before Christmas - it looked ok when I came out the hairdresser - but I managed to look like a cross between Martina Navratolova and Rod Stewart when I did it myself

You could go for a jaw length bob with graduated ends just to so it falls into place. Not very dissimilar to what you have now

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/04/2008 08:54

I think a nice chic classic bob would suit you - quite short - lovely looking hair though !

TillyScoutsmum · 14/04/2008 08:58

like this ?

zippitippitoes · 14/04/2008 08:59

you are all being very nice

i am not a very good at style stuff person..i am really an old hippy

but dont want to entirely look like one

i alwasy had short crop apart from a foray back into a bob in about 1987

so this is back to a sorter version of my 14 year old self

and as i seem to have reverted to being a teenager in most respects i want to make sure i am not looking risiculous

zippitippitoes · 14/04/2008 09:00

she loks sophisticated

i ahve to go to college now

will check back later

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/04/2008 09:36

TillyScoutsmum - that's the thing !

Anna8888 · 14/04/2008 09:51

zippi - I had quite a lot chopped off the end of my hair last week and it is true that it has had a rejuvenating effect - my longer hair was dragging my features down, now it is shorter (shoulder length) and layered it bounces up and my face looks younger too.

I have a fantastic hairdresser if you are coming to Paris

stuffitllama · 14/04/2008 14:33

on length the rule is supposed to be
nothing below the front bra clip after the age 40
(what tosh)
(or is it)

TillyScoutsmum · 14/04/2008 14:35

I suppose its a personal thing - but imho - anything below bra strap after the age of 12 looks a bit odd to me

stuffitllama · 14/04/2008 14:36

oh flip tilly

am mutton
