What to wear in court

The title probably makes this sound more exciting than it is, but I have been called to give evidence in court in a few months. I have no idea what I would be expected to wear!

I presume it needs to be smart. But I don't work in an office so don't own reems of that type of clothes and have limited desire to buy any (but will if needs be).

I own a navy blue trousers suit that I wear for interviews - but does it needs to be black? I have got a black knee length cotton A-line dress but is that too casual? Does a shirt/blouse need to be white?

Are high heels expected?

Any advice welcome!

Sorry to piggyback on this but I have been called as a juror next month. I’m hoping I won’t be selected because it co-incides with the start of term at work so terrible timing, but do I need to be smart for that? I teach in a creative subject so generally would wear something like eg black wide leg jeans/striped top/Adidas trainers for work, will that suffice? Or midi dress and trainers? I literally own no shoes that are not trainers (I do have a massive selection of those!), DMs or Birkenstock clogs.

Wear your every day clothes.
All you need is to be clean with no offensively sloganed t- shirts and covering up body parts that common sense tells you should be covered up. No need to cover tattoos unless they are offensive

No one will even notice far less care what footwear you are wearing.

Thanks - no offensive tattoos, and not a slogan person so should be fine. It’s the high court rather than the sheriff court so I think that means a more serious case/likely to take longer.

High Court is serious crime. Murder and rape can only be tried in the High Court. Doesn't mean it will be a murder or rape but it will be serious.

Oh me, my work will not be pleased if I end up needing loads of time off at the beginning of the semester 🤦🏻‍♀️
