Is there no hope for women over 50?

In an article in todays' Sunday Time style magazine, the writer was saying that Madonna was upping the stakes for women approaching 50. But she was saying that once you hit 50 and hormones disappear that everything goes - legs and arms like crepe paper and face loses all fat. It sounded totally depressing.
I'll be 45 this year and want to think there is some hope for the 50's.
Anyone look grand in their middle years?

I've been at the Marathon today (helping at a water station, not running) with a woman of 71. She ran last year and she's so full of energy and fun that it's great to be around her. She doesn't look young (although prob younger than her age), but by god you know she feels and seems it. I'd much rather be like her than look really young, but be scared to smile for fear of the wrinkles.

anyway goes to show there is some faiont hope

my biggest mistake is not going to bed early

but i have pics of myself age 4 with huge bags under my eyes so there was never much hope

zippitippitoes · 13/04/2008 21:01

I would look like Mr Tumnus if I didn't wax.

zippitippitoes · 13/04/2008 21:06

i think the best thing to do is lots of exercise

zippitippitoes · 13/04/2008 21:07

obviously wont get rid of hair lol

but i would rather gain body hair than lose it off my head

FrayedKnot · 13/04/2008 21:12

"hence me having to take a 31 year old lol"

Zip

Love the way you said "taking" as if it had been prescribed

Please let my GP be prescirbing 31 yr olds when I am 50

I get free prescriptions too

Zippi - I had a look at your pics and you look fab.
I agree that looking sprightly and keeping fit can do a lot more than Botox to keep an aura of youth, or rather attractiveness.

Though I do loathe the effort it takes to look half decent when going for a night out and the continual connundrum of what outfits you can get away with and the dreaded 'mutton' scenario.

PS: I am around your age but look a lot more haggard.

nikos · 13/04/2008 22:27

A month ago I started with the tips from Marjo Horn. She's from Europe and is giving very easy tips for DIY facelift and radiant skin. I have found the information on www.lookinggreat.tv I follow the program acoording to the book 'Looking great in 21 days' for a month now and I look years younger already.
