If I am going to a Black Tie Ball

...do I have to have a long dress? If so, is mid shin long enough or does it have to be longer? It's not massively posh, just a bit formal !

I think mid shin would be fine (I think full evening dress equals a long dress or gown)

But I'm no expert!! I think Littlelapin or PPH know about this sort of thing.

Have fun!

I don't think it has to be long, or even necessarily a proper ball dress. I have been to lots of 'black tie' events where, although the men were in proper black tie, many women just wore cocktail dresses.

I wondered if I could get away with more of a cocktail sort of dress (or whether I'd be tut tutted at )
