AIBU in thinking that £100 trousers should be lined FGS?

I could not find a pair of lined work trousers today for love nor money. Not at Hobbs, Episode, Jigsaw, Phase 8 or Kew.

Pah!

Where can I find lined trews please?

i guess lined is too hot for spring/summer so they wont be out there for a while. I think a loose, well cut pair probably dont need lining?

find a great tailor/seamstress.

one of my best friends is an expert seamstress and was able to give up a job as a paralegal due to demand for the quality work clothes she makes.

she's not even that cheap, but compared to what's out there off the peg she's well worth the money.

chonky · 13/04/2008 18:47

The ones I tried on newgirl showed all my lumps and bumps (I'm 5'11 and size 12, so you'd think that bumpiness showing throygh wouldn't be tooo bad).

I did think about that expat - I'll see if I can track someone down.

It's worth phoning around, chonky. Most will quote for what you want and it only takes two fittings.

If I lived near my pal I'd pay her ot make all my work clothes rather than buy stuff off the peg again. It works out to be about the same amount, maybe a tenner or so more, but the quality is far, far better, as is the fit for obvious reasons.

chonky · 13/04/2008 19:47

Agree. I once had a dress made for a ball (when I was young and had disposable income ) - the fit was perfect. Definitely worth paying the premium for.

I guess your pal is in Scotland?

Emporio Armani? I got some linen trousers from there a few years ago, and they're lined to just above the knee.

chonky · 13/04/2008 19:49

Wow - Armani! I'm guessing that they would be costing more than £100

Having said that, if they last 3-4 years far better than several pairs of cheaper shoitey trousers.

Emporio Armani is the 'reasonably' priced stuff. You're right, they'd be far over £100 in the proper Armani store.

there was an article in the sundaytimes this week about the lack of good work clothes out there - all very expensive im afraid

im wondering if a very large branch of m and s might have good trouser suits - they certainly do good quality ones for men
