Ladies with dry skin under your eyes, what cream do you use?

I'm mid 50s and have suddenly developed quite dry flaky skin under and around my eyes. I've been using loreal golden age eye cream, but it's not really fixing it. I can't wear concealer anymore as that just sits on the dry patches and flakes. I need to fix this, any suggestions?

Weleda Skin Food is brilliant, I had the same thing and tried loads of creams, nothing worked. I tried this and it worked quickly, it is reasonably priced and lasts ages. It is quite thick so I massage it a little bit on my finger first to melt it a little, than gently pat under my eyes. Kiehls Advocado eye cream is very good too but bit pricier.

I use my normal moisturiser plus Bobbi Brown all in one face base. My skin feels and looks much more moisturised

I'd also take a step back and ask why is it dry - what else are you putting on it?
Cleanser, makeup etc?

Vasline at night. Honestly its been like a miracle!

I just use a moisturising face wipe at night to cleanse. In the morning I wash with a creamy face wash. I honestly think it's just age and lack of oestrogen.

Weleda skin food is a good shout.

Agree totally with @TheSpottedZebra what other products are you using to cause dryness?

Yes being menopausal does = drier skin but then everything needs a review.

I would guess your moisturising face wipe is anything but moisturising. If the creamy face wash foams then that's probably also an issue.

Advice from a couple of dermatologists, you don't need a specific eye cream you can use any moisturiser suitable for sensitive skin.

It'll be the wipe, stop using them and see if it improves.

Yes maybe I should change to a cream make up remover.

What do other people use to remove eye make up?

I use this after suddenly becoming allergic to something or other and getting eczema on my eyelids and under eyes. You can get a tiny tester pot to try but it's good stuff.

Thanks everyone I had a brainwave today and used some of my ds emollient cream (hydramol) that he has for eczema. Instant relief!

I had really dry skin under my eyes that ended up getting really sore. Doctor even prescribed steroid cream but nothing worked.

Went to see different GP who told me it was probably rubbing my eyes due to tiredness/ stress. This produces histamine which makes eyes itch. Viscous circle.

Told me to take drowsy antihistamine just before bed and consciously stop rubbing eyes. Worked within a week. Could it be that?

I came here to suggest hydromol! I've been using it under my eyes every morning and night for the last couple of years and it's been fantastic, not just for the dryness but for the fine lines too.

Ditch the wipes.

Almond oil - cold pressed, organic. Get it from Amazon for 6/7£.
It has a lot of good qualities and is extremely moisturising. Quite a lot of evidence around how effective it is for crepey and dry skin around the eye, watched a YouTube vid on it recently and the comments were very encouraging (from people who had been using almond oil on eyes for months / years)
