Are we still allowed to do the dresses with trousers combo this year?

I don't really do dresses in summer (pasty legs) but I do like them. So, will I look very 2007?

No no,get some fake tan on your legs and dresses under the knee.

Tinker · 13/04/2008 00:03

No? Really? Can't be bothered with fake tan.

what we can't? say who???
I'm gonna be so last year then. again

expatinscotland · 13/04/2008 00:31

It's better than wearing one of those dresses with the whole arse sticking out.

gigglewitch · 13/04/2008 00:31

expat

Tinker · 13/04/2008 00:34

Yeah, prove it that we can't. [stares at abouteve]

honestly, you see these young girls, giggle, and there's just not much left to the imagination.

and it's usually the ones where it really should be something of a mystery who are wearing those.

gigglewitch · 13/04/2008 00:43

it's cos they can't fit their mystery into those little tops

expatinscotland · 13/04/2008 00:47

because that's what those dresses are.

they're tops.

wish someone would tell them that.

and that underwear is cheap and easily accessible to all.

gigglewitch · 13/04/2008 00:51

pmsl expat. I must be getting old, talking about these "young things" like this.

expatinscotland · 13/04/2008 00:54

Reminds me of that scene in Clueless where she comes downstairs to go out and her father bellows, 'WHAT is that? WHAT is that you have on?' And she says, 'A dress.'

'Says who?' the father yells back. 'Says Calvin Klein,' she whispers.

And he squawks, 'It looks like you're wearing your underwear. You're not going out like that. Go upstairs and change.'

Sixer · 13/04/2008 01:02

I hate this. You all declare to know WFT you are talking about. however seriously lack in pics for those of us who don't. I often visit here in hope, but click away, as you seem all talk and no action.
Blah bvlah blah, we know what is in. Are we prepared to help those who don't with pics. NOP. Thanks. we shall remain dull, unfashionable, Shoot us dead in the playgound mums. Bitches. Share. Help.

gigglewitch · 13/04/2008 01:04

sixer, whatever you're on - I want some

Sixer · 13/04/2008 01:09

I Love dresses and combo look. It's just a lack of pics on here of what's in, and what you can get away with. That tits me orf. Very quick to say NOOoooooo, not to qiuck to help with mums that have been trapped in. I think if it's in style, show us, please.

gigglewitch · 13/04/2008 01:12

are you implying that someone around here knows "what's hot and what's not" type stuff?

Sixer · 13/04/2008 01:17

fuckty fuck fuck fuck. I got the style and ugly messed up again.

gigglewitch · 13/04/2008 01:29

course you didn't. they are actually the same thing.

Just curious, are you pssshhed?
I am. And nocturnal too. i lurve these drunken ramblings.
(btw, sorry now if you're actually stone cold sober)

snowleopard · 13/04/2008 16:37

To return to the OP - yes I shall be wearing dresses over jeans. I love a nice floral short dress but not with my bare lardy legs/lumpen knees. If you wear the right jeans, slim bootcut, or cropped, plus nice sandals it can look great and I don't give an arse if I look "2007" (in fact I'd be having an abnormally modern moment if that was the case )

Anna8888 · 13/04/2008 16:39

NO NO NO.

Passé.

Blu · 13/04/2008 16:40

I shall certainly be wearing tunic / shift style dresses over trousers again.

Best fashion ever.

Even if it is no longer fashion.

Anna8888 · 13/04/2008 16:44

Blu - I agree, it's no longer fashion.

It's camouflage .

Dresses over trousers is the new black - what you wear when you aren't proud of your physical attributes .

Blu · 13/04/2008 16:48

Anna , LOL - well, that may well be the case - but a plain shift style tunic over plain cropped trousers suits me exactly - suits my height, , plain un-curvy build, and 'handsome' rather than 'pretty' tendency (am not claiming attractiveness but if it did develop it would be towards handsome rather than pretty iyswim).

Also, my stuff has to earn it's keep for more than one year!

So, I'll be out there, passe or not!

kaz33 · 13/04/2008 16:51

Was it in last year?? I've only just discovered it...

snowleopard · 13/04/2008 16:55

There's nowt wrong with playing to your strengths though Anna - I'm pear-shaped, and I do actually look better if I disguise my arse and thighs and emphasise ankles, chest and arms. I'm not ashamed of my body... but does that mean I should walk around with as much of it bared as possible? That's where feminism weirdly tips over into slapper-dom...

newgirl · 13/04/2008 18:17

im definitely wearing tunics over jeans at least until it gets hot and then i'll put skirts on

i think i will look most stylish in the playground although i only have one and one pair of jeans that fits and i need to go shopping very urgently
