Hi all need advice on my thick frizzy hair. Not dyed it in years. All natural. Feel like cutting it all off. I have a 1 year old son and busy life and don't have time to maintain it. It takes ages to style and I don't even know how to style it I have thick frizzy hair and very knotty. Its also very wavy underneath and straight on top! So hard to deal with daily! Feel like cutting it all off.. see photos attached, any advice on products to use or styles to have would be appreciated x

I would have it shorter and layered so that you can wash and leave it to dry naturally and not need to style it at all

Don't wash it too often

How short and how layered is often a thing that's hard to work out without trial and error

You probably find the top is wavy when it's a little shorter

Go to a hairdresser who specialises in curly hair and take her advice on a cut.
Then wash it no more than a twice a week, condition it with curly hair conditioner, squeeze it dry and use a curl cream.
And don't brush it through till the next wash (get rid of the knots with your fingers when it's full of conditioner).
DD's hair was very much like yours, and is now transformed into really beautiful curls.

Get a layered hair cut to take some of the weight off. Wash once or max twice a week, use shampoo for curly hair and conditioner and then use a good hair mask and wash out (or leave it on on the ends) in the shower brush through with a good wide tooth comb. After I would put loads of oil in it and then use maybe a serum, mousse, etc it'll be trial and error for what works best. I would then let it air dry or put in a french braid to dry overnight but also most nights to prevent frizz (puts loads of oil in and plaits it). This is what my daughters routine is and works really well. Oil is your friend here for dryness and frizz

I've also assumed you would like to go the curly route, my daughter has very similar hair and despite constantly trying to straighten has given into her curls and it's much less hassle and looks amazing. If you want to straighten I would still get shampoo condition and hair mask then oil and then use colour wow (silver bottle) and blow dry. It's unreal for helping with frizz and smoothing hair

Get a “reverse perm” at the hairdressers. It’s where they use perming solution/process to straighten your hair. I love mine now, loads less time to deal with it and not frizzy which is great for when the humidity hits on holidays!

Mine was a lot like yours. I did cut it all off! An inverted bob and use the curly girl method to look after it. Its now very low maintenance and cool because its off my neck. If I want it up completely I just grab random bits with small claw clips to make a curly up do. Its magic.

I found Only Curls really works on mine. Thick, became curly after I shaved it all off for charity, and was just a mass of awful frizz and knots. I use their system, wash at most twice a week - and wear a sleep turban. Oh my god - just the turban has got rid of so many knots. It’s currently shoulder length and with some layers to take off the weight but I can just use curl refresh every other day and not even need to blow dry.
