So flattering walking trousers exist? Want alternative to gym leggings!

I would like some lightweight, breathable and comfortable walking trousers that hit at ankle length. Completely sick of wearing skin tight leggings.

Do they exist? Have obviously had a good Google but it's so hard to tell online and don't fancy ordering hundreds to try.

I like the cut of Karrimor (if you can bear to go into a Sports Direct). Not too high waisted, stretchy, flattering, good pocket situation.

I have these from Decathlon and would recommend them.

Me too, and (unlike every other pair of walking trousers I've ever tried on) they'd don't give the horrible camel toe effect.

Craghoppers - Women's Nosilife Pro Hose Walking trousers

Eddie Bauer UK - Women's Guide Pant and Women's Horizon Pant

I've had decent walking trousers from Peter Storm, Merrell and Craghopper.

Brilliant
Well, well, well worth the cost!!

LozbetweenHomes · 23/07/2024 11:15

Definitely Regatta or Craghoppers, light, rainproof and pockets

Get thee down Decathlon!
I got some a few years ago for a very reasonable price. Something like like this but zip off (and in stock).

If I was getting some today I'd look at these. The waist looks really comfortable.

Flattering will depend on your body shape so I would look for the right cut, colour and style. Patterns and colour placements make a difference.

I'd recommend Montane Terra Ridge pants. They're flattering and excellent for days out in the hills.

Mountain Warehouse often have them on sale. I wouldn't say they've got exactly stylish ones, but they won't frighten the horses either.

I don’t think there is any such thing as flattering walking trousers, and the suggestions so far haven’t changed my mind.

When we first got together, my husband’s friends only ever saw me in walking gear. One asked him if he had a new girlfriend when they saw some pictures of us on a predominantly beach holiday.

How do you define flattering?
For walking trousers I'd say they need to be the right length, to be made of a fabric that moves with your body and not to be overly tight or loose on any part of the body.

I'm in a running club. Once a year at our awards night every one is dressed up. We look fancy and sparkly and barely recognisable from club training nights, but I'd like to think my running kit is flattering ie. fits me well, suits my shape and is functional.

How do you define “suits my shape”?

My running kit is very tight fitting so shows off my shape.

Hmmm, I am tall and lean. Form fitting clothes look better than loose fitting ones which can swamp me and flap about. I find that shorter shorts look better than ones which finish mid thigh. I guess it's personal taste, and most importantly if it feels comfortable then the wearer should go for that. I imagine there is a correlation between what feels comfortable and what 'suits your shape' because things that are digging in, falling off your shoulders, creeping up your bum etc won't be comfortable and are not suiting your shape.

Oh god knows what I'm talking about...I'll get back to work!

Love Acai ones, I sometimes wear them instead of jeans on normal days especially if the weather is bad. Both my pairs I got from vinted for about half price, one worn once, one pair new with tags.
