Teva Experts, Advice Needed

I am looking for sandals to wear in Florida and be comfortable for long theme park days. I hate trainers when it’s hot but will take some as well.

I thought Teva sandals would be good as everyone seems to rave about them, but I tried a pair of the originals in Schuh and they weren’t at all comfy even just sitting in them. I can’t imagine walking in them a whole day. Are the other models like the Hurricane better?

I'm trying to work out how Teva Universals could be uncomfortable while sitting down, what was it about them? Did you adjust the straps?

I have Universal originals which I find comfortable, and also Universal midforms which has a more rigid footbed. The Hurricane footbed is different again. However the straps on all of them are very similar. There is a version called Universal slim where the straps are, you guessed it, slimmer.

I al open to other suggestions (already following the all day sandal thread) so I will check the Keen ones out, thank you.

Marinel I tried them sitting down and walked over to the mirror in them. They just weren’t ’comfy’ - I tried them and a pair of New Balance trainers and the trainers straightaway felt comfortable. Yes I adjusted the straps, it was the material which didn’t feel comfy and I can’t imagine would be if they got wet and the trailer angles that the straps connected through just didn’t feel comfortable near my little toe.

I'm at the theme parks now. It's too hot for trainers IMO.

I'm wearing a trusty pair of Josef Seibel Tongas. They will be trashed by the end (rain/water parks/mileage) but are so comfortable.

I swear by Tevas and have found them comfortable as soon as I've put them on. I can't think of anything about them that would make them uncomfy.

Scissorsisters · 20/07/2024 15:25

PS the straps are Velcro so are infinitely adjustable. I sometimes wear socks much to everyone's disgust if they do threaten to rub, and I have moleskine for any hotspots. The tiniest bit of roughness that wouldn't be an issue at home can rub in the heat and humidity.

Scissorsisters · 20/07/2024 15:26

I cannot wear Tevas. The triangle bit seems to sit in the wrong place on my foot making them impossible to wear.

Marinel · 20/07/2024 16:01

Ah right, if the strap angles aren't right then I don't think any Tevas would work for you.

I have some Keen Elle sandals, they are lovely but the straps are sort of heavy canvas so I think they might rub if they got wet.

It’s been a few years since I last went, I love teva I wear them all the time but for some reason I really struggled with them out there, they were rubbing like mad. I ended up buying a pair of Micky mouse croc flip flops. Never thought they’d work for that level of walking, they were bloody brilliant, best buy ever. I wouldn’t recommend cheap flip flops for it though.

I have these;

Also bought the xlt type but the extra padding on these are brilliant for comfort.

Bought them as we did Florida parks in April and pretty much walked NYC in June.

I'd buy these again.

Forgot to say, adjusting the straps was incredibly useful for me.

They did need a bit of wearing in for me to get used to them, adjusting the straps to suit.

In the wet the grip isn't 100%.

DarkDarkNight · 20/07/2024 17:21

Trailer angles was meant to say triangles in my last post 😂

I might order a different style and try them at home before I give up on them. Maybe adjusting the straps a bit more will help, I was a big flustered with the sales assistant there. I am afraid they’ll rub though.

Scissorsisters I’m with you, I need my feet out when it’s hot.

I have Croc sandals and find them comfortable for short trips I couldn’t wear them all day or in the heat - I find they stick to my feet and hurt. I am thinking of a normal pair of crocs though as they tend to fit roomier.

Seriously try Skechers sandals , mine have done lots of hot city breaks and regularly done 30k steps a day .
