Keratin treatment for thick hair

I'm wondering if anyone can give some advice please.

My DD is 12 and has hair that seems to be getting thicker every year. It has a definite wave in it. We've tried loads of shampoos/conditioner combos over time. And some curl stuff to see if that helps.

Her hair is thick, goes frizzy quickly and has lots of broken strands in it. She's getting really fed up of it now.

I've looked into it and a Keratin treatment looks like it will smooth it out, but does anyone have any first hand experience of it? Will it do more damage to her hair?

she doesn't use heat on it yet, let's it dry naturally, goes to bed with it damp sometimes and currently washes it twice per week. Any more makes it worse.

Im fully expecting secondary school to cause more issues with her disliking it and hitting the straighteners soon. So anything that can help I'm willing to try.

Get a good, regular haircut that thins out her hair.

Never go to bed with wet hair.

Don't brush, comb, using a wide-toothed comb.

Try blowdrying on a moderate heat when her hair has airdried 75% to 80%; if you use a heat protector product like the Lee Stafford spray and don't put the drier too close it won't damage.

Can you and or DD learn how to do 2 French plaits? Could be a good idea for school.

Imagine any reputable hairdresser will say she's too young.

When she has finished puberty her hair is likely to change somewhat, typically, during the teenage years, girls' hair is at its thickest.

Thank you.

French plaits are something I've never mastered and for secondary locally it's all about the flowing locks or high ponytail.

I'll get a wide comb. Shes been using a smoothing brush on it dry and a wet brush after the shower. Definitely noted on the not going to bed with it wet. they're great tips.

She has it cut regularly by a great hairdresser. She has it thinned and layers to take some of the weight from the bottom.

All hairdressers will do keratin on her. It just needs parental permission which I'm happy to give if it will work. :)
