Long layers or straight cut on very fine hair?

I have very fine hair and have it about shoulder length with some longer layers put in but it looks thin at the ends. Is it better to just go for a blunt cut as in no layers?

I have my hair cut into a bob and asked my hairdresser the same thing. I have quite fine hair and she told me I'd be better just having it the one length. It's actually looks quite thick since I got it chopped. It was previously quite long and looked really thin and whispy at the ends.

I have both in mine it adds a little dimension without thinning it out too much

Depends on your hair. I have very fine hair - every hairdresser I have ever had has commented on how fine. But I have loads of it. I can't pull off one-length as having so much hair, a one-length cut makes it look really flat. Other members of my family also have fine hair but not so much of it. They tend to go for one-length as it stops it looking sparse at the ends.

I have thin, flat hair and go for one length. I have it just long enough to hit shoulders so it gets a bit of bounce - any shorter and it just hangs pathetically in mid air. Any longer and it looks sparse and ratty at the ends.

I have fine, thin hair, when I was younger I had lovely layered cuts, usually around shoulder length. Then a few years ago my usual hairdresser left hairdressing and any new ones I tried said I could only have a one-length chop with my fine hair so I did and it always looked rubbish and boring and flat and I hated it.

I recently tried another hairdresser, very expensive, and demanded layers and a tousled look and now my hair finally looks as if it has some volume!

But you'll need to do your research and find photos of other people with fine, thin hair with layers to show your hairdresser as most of them seem resistant to doing any interesting cuts on fine hair.

Not too long, with long layers to give it some bounce. All one length can drag the face down and if you've got fine hair, but lots of it, it will be very flat. If it's fine and sparse I'd have it shorter but all one length
