HELP! My nose filler feels wrong!

MochaBear · 14/07/2024 19:54

Hi everyone, i had a liquid rhinoplasty done (dermal filler in the nose) and i feel like a vein in between my eyebrows has swollen up..

I had this done years ago before but from another place and i did not have this happen to me at that time (i couldnt do it again this time from there because they have tripled their prices)
I decided to try a different clinic this time where she injected the filler in the tip of my nose and then alittle above my nose bone for the dorsal hump and as soon as she finished i noticed the lump in between my brows.
I asked her why that is there and that it feels like it is throbbing and she kept saying its just trauma from the injections and that she didnt use the needle there and insisted it will go away within two weeks.

Its now been 4 days and the lump is still there and it hurts when i press it and it feels like its a part of the vein that runs down the middle of my forehead. I am scared and feel like crying because she charged me £250 and she is not helping at all.. i am worried that she is going to charge me another £150 to dissolve it when it isnt my fault but hers!
I even messaged her when i got home as it felt like my eye was going to explode and she was being very defensive saying its normal and i need to give it a few weeks etc. Etc.

Please can someone advise me on what to do?? Will i be able to get a refund or atleast get her to dissolve it for free since she was the one who made the mistake? Should i be panicking? Please someone help me 😭 the left side of my head is also hurting

I would get this checked by a medic - it doesn’t sound normal and I would want to rule out subcutaneous emphysema (when air gets trapped under the skin following trauma or some types of injection, usually dental). Rare complication, but best to get checked if there’s ongoing pain and swelling.

Maytorain · 14/07/2024 21:53

Locate another aesthetics clinic and call them and get a second opinion. Ideally somewhere with ultrasound

MochaBear · 15/07/2024 00:41

@keepcrackingon @Maytorain oh no thats made me even more worried! I hope its not that.. it feels sore to touch and press it and feel pressure near my eyes.. i have contacted another clinic ran by doctors and they sent me an email asking for pics so i will send them first thing tomorrow and get their opinion on it. What shocks me is the fact that the lady who did it was just brushing it off casually.. i mean.. if your client is complaining of pain and theres a lump there then you wouldnt just send them home like that would you? And apparently she said she has been doing this for 5 years

I wonder if she's insured

EurJumper · 15/07/2024 00:46

I would get this checked out by an actual doctor. This doesn't sound normal.

Also if the lady who did it isn't medically qualified I wouldn't let her near my face again tbh.

rupsky · 15/07/2024 00:56

I've had this done and it's not normal to feel like that after. Any tenderness at the site of injection would have worn off by now.

If you push the skin around it does the colour come back when you release pressure? Is the skin mottled or have a different texture or colour?

Keep all your texts chats with her on record. She's given you really shit advice!

Don't stress too much about it. The doctors from the other place will know a lot more!

X x

Cantbelievethatimafoolagain · 15/07/2024 01:00

did you get it done by a medical professional? £250 seems very cheap.

CyanideShake · 15/07/2024 01:20

first and foremost definitely seek an opinion from a doctor. I know one of the risks of a liquid nose job is if the filler is accidentally injected into a blood vessel.

worry about refunds once you've been given reassurance by a medic. don't let this person take another needle to your face.

good luck Smile

HolyJackaMoly · 15/07/2024 02:39

Ok so if she has fucked up then you should be claiming on HER insurance full stop. Pisses me right off these people who do fillers and have no clue what they are doing. Just for info, I have a syndrome where I have malformed bones in my face so occasions need fat filling every few years to fill where the bones would be ( behind my nose). Tell the cowboy she's fucked up, that she needs to fix it and that if she doesn't you'll get it done elsewhere and either sue her insurance or claim through small claims for what it cost you to fix. Be tough. Don't fuck around

keepcrackingon · 15/07/2024 07:25

Definitely do not return to the woman who did the work - she sounds irresponsible, unprofessional and possibly incompetent. Do log everything and check her insurance and qualifications. But most importantly get seen by a doctor today. There are some rare but very serious complications associated with fillers (vascular occlusion, where filler enters a blood vessel). Sorry to alarm you and that is the unlikely worst case scenario, but do get it checked so that you can be reassured or, if necessary, receive treatment asap.

DracoDormiensNumquamTittilandum · 15/07/2024 07:27

(i couldnt do it again this time from there because they have tripled their prices)

Yes you could, but you chose instead of paying the going rate for someone who knows what they are doing to pay pennies to someone who fucked up. It's your face. Why wouldn't you spend the money if you want to mess about with it? I'm sorry to be unsympathetic but people are taking ridiculous risks with their faces thinking you can get high standard work for peanuts. Go to the doctor, it might be an infection.

MochaBear · 15/07/2024 10:59

@DracoDormiensNumquamTittilandum the price i paid this woman is the average cost where i live, the prices range from 250 to 550 depending which clinic you are having it done from and how much filler is being used. In my case it was just 0.5ml that i was paying for as i didnt need much hence the cost was less. There was another actual nurse who was offering to do it for 190 but obviously that sounded too cheap and i didnt get it done from her.

I emailed another clinic that is ran by doctors and they have asked me to send in pictures so they can take a look so i hope to get some answers feom there. And yes i am lookong to sue this woman as she is very unprofessionaly and simply did not listen to me when i told her about being in pain.. i mean she didnt even recommend taking a painkiller either atleast. She just said "u will be fine give it two weeks".

Thank you so far for the responses though i really appreciate it, i have never had such a procedure go wrong on me so i didnt know how to go about suing her or even claiming etc. But i will be taking that path soon once i get some clear advice from the doctors x

Im still waiting for the docs to get back but in the mean time i messaged her asking if she could take a look because i had contacted another aesthetician who is a midwife last night and she said it doesnt look like trauma as it is too far fron the injection site and the message she sent back to me is:

"Hi without being rude I'm a level 7 qualifier aesthetic practitioner also aesthetic training instructor I don't take advice from midwife's etc but please feel free to come in salon I can look at you and trauma from injection points is a common practice as putting needles in any area of your body can cause trauma however this is why we have a healing stage , I'm always here for aftercare x" 😳

CommeUneVacheEspagnole · 15/07/2024 16:39

Gosh she sounds a treat! Sounds like she should be taking advice from others because she isn't always right. This is what absolutely terrifies me about aesthetics and my wrinkly face is crying out for some Botox but I'm too scared to take the jump.

I don't imagine you will be able to get money back unless it's proven that she caused the issue. She should dissolve it for free but that isn't necessarily a resolution. I'd go to a GP but not expect too much help from them.

Ask her for her insurance details if she says she will charge you for the "aftercare". Don't be polite and scared of her response, she isn't scared of yours!

GoldThumb · 15/07/2024 16:45

Id get a second opinion urgently, could be a vascular occlusion.

Any reputable injector should be aware of the signs of this, and should have made you aware of the signs

Exactly this. This is the thing to be worried about and I’d be getting a doctor to look at this asap.
Absolutely disgraceful that she has told you it’s normal. It definitely isn’t.

summeroccupation · 15/07/2024 16:51

I think you should stop fucking about with various nurses all peddling shite to inject into your face and go to urgent care so it can be checked out properly.

MochaBear · 15/07/2024 17:14

@CommeUneVacheEspagnole im not bothered about the money back if she will dissolve it for free.. im just surprised at her change of tone and all i said to her was that a couple of other aestheticians that i reached out for who happen to be qualified nurse and a doctor have advised me to go back to her get it seen and she became so defensive over that.. i learnt my lesson.. i never imagined it would happen to me i mean it was a straight forward procedure..

MochaBear · 15/07/2024 17:16

@Justsomethoughts yeah still waiting for the doctor to get back in touch i have sent her pics.. if i go to my gp i think they will porbably just tell me to go back to the lady that did it. Thats why im just waitibg on this doctor who is also an aesthetician to get back to me as ahe would have a more better understanding around whats happened.

I wouldnt say this is the A&E kind of stuff... yet..

MargotMoon · 15/07/2024 17:19

Anyone who replies to a complaint from a customer with a message with a kiss at the end is not a serious professional. Surely!??!

MochaBear · 15/07/2024 17:31

@MargotMoon 🤣

MochaBear · 15/07/2024 17:42

If the doctor doesnt get bqck to me today im going to go to my GP tomorrow and see how it goes. Just dont want to go to A&E because its terrible here.. waiting time is 9 hours and i have a 6 month old baby and a 3 year old toddler and nobody to look after them for that long (hubby works night shifts and then sleeps when he gets back)

Justsomethoughts · 15/07/2024 18:56

It’s really shocking that she acted in that way - more concerned that you were accusing her than about your situation. This tells you everything you need to know about her expertise and integrity.

The issue is that there is an artery running down the centre of the nose that might have been affected and can cause quite serious issues if it isn’t sorted asap.

Her knowledge of anatomy clearly isn’t up to scratch or she would have been quite concerned when you pointed out swelling in that particular location immediately after an injection of the nose. Understanding of facial anatomy is absolutely essential which is why I really think non medical professionals should never be allowed to inject (anyway I know this isn’t helpful at this point).

Hope you get this sorted asap OP, I feel for you.

MochaBear · 15/07/2024 19:09

@Justsomethoughts it really is helpful to hear kind words so thank you 🥺💐 i think the reason she wasnt concerned was because the swelling/bulge is more towards the left rather in the middle and the fact that the rest of my nose hasnt changed colour as it would if there was a blockage.. nevertheless though it is causing pain when i touch it and a feeling of pressure in the corner of my eye so will get it checked out by gp tomorrow. Might also get it checked by the one who did my nose the first time 4 years ago (he was originally a gp who had gone on to open his own aesthetics clinic) so maybe he will be able to take a look and see whats going on. But thank you xx
