Holiday clothes for Italy

Livedandlearned · 13/07/2024 18:08

I'm looking to get some new clothes to take on holiday to Lake Garda in early August, but I'd also like to wear them after the holiday so I'm not really after obvious holiday wear.

I'm 5'3 and 65kg with an hourglass shape and short legs.

I'd like to go for skirts and dresses plus smart casual trousers but as I don't wear any of this normally I need some advice about which shops to look in.

I'm happy to spend £40-50 on each item as long as I love it.

Thanks for any advice, I have had a quick look online but not in real life as I've only just got out of hospital with urosepsis and a kidney stone so I could do with something to look forward to.

What's your usual style/colours?

Livedandlearned · 13/07/2024 18:13

Usually really plain, black and white and neutral. My colouring is warm and I suit autumn colours but don't really wear them except for green occasionally.

Sorry and I like fitted tops and wide leg trousers/jeans.

Roman originals have loads of beautiful petite size dresses.... excellent for holidays but very wearable afterwards... there are currently some great discounts offered... I just bought 7 for my house...

I’m just back from Italy. I’d say the tourists I saw in our hotel were very smart. Buy the best you can afford because I’d say Italians on holiday are quite chic. In fact French women have a reputation for chic but in my experience, Italians are too.
I’m going to buy myself some sparkly sliders/flat mules (sandals) because the women I saw wore some really pretty ones.
Also, a pretty kaftan to wear poolside. Italian shops where we were had some lovely ones so I treated myself.
Have a lovely time. It was 32degrees last week where we were.

Been to Italy quite a lot. I'd say ladies are known to embrace top to toe black, pair jeans with sequined tops and have a knack for pulling together bits and pieces that together look like a designer matched it. Also linen dresses seem to be sinequanone, but that's more in the central Italy. Whatever you do, good quality shoes with matching bag/belt are the canon there and do invest in a good pair of shades. Also, out of summer, they will spend quite a bit on a good quality jacket/coat.

Thanks, I imagined they would dress well, I'm going to look at shoes and sunglasses today.
