What's your colour?

I just saw a lady wearing a beautiful coral dress with gold shoes and accessories but unfortunately the colour doesn't suit me at all. I find that any peach/orange/pink colour completely washes me out. I'm glad I know this now but I wish I had known when I was younger!! I always went for colours I liked rather than what was flattering. I now know that turquoise , mint, khaki & navy are my colours. I have blonde hair and hazel eyes. It's amazing how bland I look in peach and how amazing turquoise is on!! What's your colour?

I’ve just discovered that teal is my colour. Would never have tried it before.

MuscariFan · 13/07/2024 09:30

I mourn that I can’t wear coral too.

Emerald/jade green, blues, strong pinks all good on my Celtic colouring.

Comedycook · 13/07/2024 09:31

I have dark hair and green eyes. I like khaki and navy or really bright colours.

I look absolutely hideous beyond belief in grey...

devildeepbluesea · 13/07/2024 09:31

Red. I have dark hair (dyed now natch), olive skin.

ileftmypotatointheovenallnight · 13/07/2024 09:37

I had my colours done professionally. Was an eye opener.

I'm a paintbox spring. My most amazing colours were bright navy and chocolate brown, but also suit purple, poppy red, geranium red, turquoise, aquamarine, kerry green, coral, french blue, flamingo pink. Basically fresh bright with a hint of warm.

Would never have thought it as my hair is brown and my eyes are brown, thought I was just bland with nothing that stood out and always wore muted colours. Now get lots more compliments.

Wearing some red is the one that gives me most confidence and was also most out of my comfort zone. Everyone suits red though just need the right shade.

Topoftheflops · 13/07/2024 09:42

I'm spring but I don't know which type. My best colour is peach. Red that's orange toned, terracotta and yellow. I'm a natural blonde with blue eyes, the blue is like a topaz blue. I suit gold jewellery better than silver. I find choosing the right shade of blue difficult.

henlake7 · 13/07/2024 10:21

well, I like greens and blues (not pastels or bright, more muted tones). Also prefer navy and grey or beige to black and white.
Although I do wonder if Im going wrong...Im blonde with blue eyes but I have black eyebrows and quite 'loud' features! Maybe I should be experimenting with more brighter colours?

Echobelly · 13/07/2024 10:26

I've got very pale skin, blue eyes, light brown hair. Hot Cerise-type pink is a good colour on me, as are blues. I got married in a sapphire blue dress which was a fairly similar colour to my eyes.

Margo2023 · 13/07/2024 10:36

Anyone know of a professional colour service that isn't too pricey?

BestIsWest · 13/07/2024 10:40

Light powdery blues - faded denim blue is my best colour. Any shade of pink.
I can wear coral pink with the right make up.

I used Style me happy. https://www.stylemehappy.co.uk/
It's an online service and is very reasonable. She diagnosed me as a light summer and my colours just seem to make sense! It's changed the way I shop completely!

I just wear what I like. I have a friend who is very into this and often says things like ‘you really suit yellow, it’s so unfair’. I find it tedious (my friend doing this, not what you are saying here) and just think, wear fucking yellow, life is too short! She is fair as well and I have brown hair so possibly there aren’t colours that dramatically look different on my colouring and that’s why I lack empathy on this one. Or perhaps I look terrible and don’t realise but I’d prefer that and feel happy in what I wear rather than confined by an imaginary set of rules.

cloudy477654 · 13/07/2024 10:52

I'm strawberry blonde with light green eyes and am a "warm spring". Coral is one of my best colours which I never thought of wearing before because I thought it would clash with my hair!
My worst colours are fuschia pink, plum and grey

Ohhh, what a wonderful colour palette you have there!

I'm a winter, so I rock emerald green and royal blue, fuchsia!

I have things that I like but aren’t the best colours for me, and I wear them happily too. There’s no doubt though that some colours do lift me much more, and that’s what I’m more likely to choose for the days I do want to look a bit less dead. 🤣

Mystro202 · 13/07/2024 12:31

Love the replies and how everyone is different. I was curious of the ones who have had professional colour opinions so I googled and discovered this. It's 100% correct as to the colours I feel better/worse in!! Wow

Almost any shade of pink, with the exception of coral/salmon. Really strong colours- orange, cobalt- generally aren’t good for me, whether they’re warm or cool, but bright fuchsia and magenta work.

Those are lovely. I looked a bit dead in winter 😂

baklavagoddess · 13/07/2024 13:35

Khaki and beige look good on me, I have olive skin, blonde/brown hair and green eyes

spikeandbuffy · 13/07/2024 13:36

Not been typed but I'm a redhead with green eyes
Most greens look good but especially darker olive, khaki, emerald. Colleague always comments I suit navy

spikeandbuffy · 13/07/2024 13:37

Oh and I never wear pink, white, orange, yellow. Red only if it's a dark maroon type

Mairzydotes · 13/07/2024 13:42

Green . Ive been told I suit various shades.

I used to work for a company that had a green uniform and people used to comment that I could carry off the colour well.

Aozora13 · 13/07/2024 13:47

Black. Also navy, grey and jewel tones. I have dark ash brown hair (although increasingly badgery), blue eyes and pale skin. I don’t suit pretty pastels or browny/yellowy/orangey colours (glad I skipped the 70s) but not sure how much that’s my colouring vs my personality!

ileftmypotatointheovenallnight · 13/07/2024 13:48

It was really cost saving having my colours done.

I can pick any item in my wardrobe and it goes with anything else. There's no orphans 😂 Clothes get more multi use.

Less risk of buying something I will never wear - definitely wasted a lot of money before.

Endlessly creative with what I have, and happy to wait for the right item.

I don't spend a lot - the right shade or colour looks expensive.

So it was £ well spent.
