Non-trendy kids-what trainers do they wear?

My 9 year old Ds isn't fussed about fashion. What are the non-trendy kids wearing in terms of trainers? Needs to be hard wearing because he walks miles daily but not a walking shoe just a general trainer. He loves Skechers for comfort but the soles are foam and get destroyed in a few weeks.

Get him some walking shoes?

Itgetsharder · 12/07/2024 20:00

Aisics are the best for wear n tear!

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 12/07/2024 20:06

New balance are extremely comfortable!

Wontletmeusemynormalname · 12/07/2024 20:08

New balance or ascics. I think air force 1s would be too heavy/clumpy but they are the "in" trainer. Nike Air max are comfy, I swear by them.

LegoTherapy · 12/07/2024 20:09

He has walking shoes already and needs a more kick about every day trainer. He has narrow feet.

Karrimor

Allnewtometoo · 12/07/2024 20:11

Ds1 has sone Karrimor trainers (not walking shoes) which gave so far lasted well and we're half price.

Ds2 has Nike air max, he got them in Feb abd they're still good having been worn a LOT.

Both DS wear these for school and at weekends.

Ones from Decathlon. They're cheap, less than £20,but are comfy and last for ages.

WheresMyBro · 12/07/2024 20:17

My doesn't-give-a-damn-what-people-say-is-cool kid has New Balance trail running shoes atm. They are holding up well to the wear and tear of a sporty active kid.

Speckledy · 12/07/2024 20:18

If they really don't care about brands, and my kids didn't at 9, then the best value pairs we've had over the years have usually been from Decathlon.

Itgetsharder · 12/07/2024 20:42

Yes, again aisics are good for narrow feet 👍

EmmyLemmyHemmy1 · 12/07/2024 20:44

100% asics. The ones where the front is stitched on rather then glued. Look on the asics outlet website

NastySting · 12/07/2024 21:17

Have a look at Gola, they are quite narrow fitting (more European sizing).
Not the cheapest but they are good quality and quite retro! They also do lots of different colours and are quite unisex in style.

Asics

LaPalmaLlama · 12/07/2024 21:31

I don’t want to shit on Decathlon but the heel box is pretty sloppy which means the Achilles isn’t supported so if they are v active they’re not a great idea. They are cheap for a reason. Asics are generally recommended by chiropodists because the heel box is high and rigid.
