Fine lines and crows feet around eyes

I'm 39 and the fine lines wrinkles around my eyes seem to have really increased in the last year or so. I think they make me look older than I actually am, and I'm getting quite self conscious. I think the rest of my face and my skin is actually fine, it's just my eyes which age me.

I also have very dark pigmentation under my eyes so I put an eye highlighter on around my eyes, but never wear foundation. I moisturise with an spf 30 moisturiser every day all year around as well as spf 50 suncream in the summer, and try and keep out of the sun as much as possible, and always wear sunglasses.

I naturally sleep on my back (I've read that sleeping on your side can increase wrinkles!)

I'm so clueless when it comes to options for reducing the wrinkles. I'd be much less keen on botox and fillers but wouldn't completely rule them out, but what creams and make up should I be looking at first (that will actually make a difference)?

Often , fine lines are caused by dehydration. So upping your fluid intake may help. The Beauty Recluse on Instagram has good explanations about things.

Thank you, yes dryness might be an issue too. I'm definitely going to invest in a good primer anyway. Does anyone have any recommendations for a really good wrinkle blending primer??

I'd like this advice too!

Beauty of joseon retinal eye cream works 11x faster than traditional retinol I've a skincare junkie and this Is the only eyecream I've seen any results from at £15 for 30mls very reasonable on the purse to.

Botox around the eyes is marvellous, after trying out having it done on my forehead I leave mine alone but around the eyes just works for me.

Also use murad retinol serum, moisturiser and night cream and it's great. Cruelty free too.

Beauty of Joseon cream has amazing reviews and very affordable so will give that a go first - thanks!

I'd probably rather not go down the botox route...yet...

So retinal or retinol products can cause irritation ( didn't for me had no issues ) what you wanna do is start off once a week the second week twice 3rd week every other day 5th week daily building up tolerance. 20 mins after you've applied it apply your regular moisturiser this helps massively with potential irritation and is needed anyway as retinal is fairly drying. You can get slight peeling this is normal as cells are being turned over far quicker and renewed. With beauty of josen I have zero side effects I've had it with all other retinol! Oh keep it in the fridge as its light sensitive, and spf the next day extra important. Beauty of josen do the best spf I've ever used in my life the rice and probotics spf! Not just an spf the most nourishing glow inducing spf I've had the pleasure of using I only use Korean skin care now x

Hi @Fantane Did you ever find a good cream that reduced the eye wrinkles please?

UmberMoose · 28/02/2026 09:59

Retinal products may help but have to be very careful when using around the eyes. Here goes my routine if you would be interested:
Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Sebamed clear face gel,
Garnier spf
Cicaplast
Evening:
LRP moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac
Sebamed clear facial gel

Some by mi intense retinol eye cream. I use it along with my regular tretinoin and am a massive fan of Botox lol

Thryu3 · 28/02/2026 15:17

Its so depressing that on a thread where the OP has explicitly said she doesnt want botox we have 3 posters recommending botox.
Some of us dont want fake plastic faces, please respect that

Yes! Botox is great to maintain fine lines or wrinkles.

I think some people reply for the benefit of everyone who might see the thread so go off piste a bit for that reason. I don't think they're trying to change anyone's mind.

Sephora used to do a great own-brand cleanser with AHA and BHA in it which I found really made a difference to fine lines. Of course it's been discontinued!

I'm now trying one by Simple with AHA
