How many clothes for 2 weeks away?

Hi Style & Beauties,

I am going on a 2 week's sightseeing holiday soon. There will be some pool time but won't be whole days by the pool/beach so most of the time of most of the days will be filled with sightseeing. This has left me a little bit stuck on how much to pack because previously I've only been away for 2 weeks if I'm spending a lot of it poolside!

It's going to be hot, 31 degrees highs, 26 degrees lows so will be quite sweaty.

How many of each item would you pack please? And what sort of fabrics would you look for to keep cool please?

I'm fairly minimal in the numbers of clothing I own, especially summer clothes living in the UK, so I do imagine I will have to buy some bits.

Thanks so much in advance,
Appa

Will you have access to a washing machine, and how much luggage allowance do you have? Do you also need outfits for evening or will your sightseeing outfit be worn for dinner?

Fabrics - cotton and linen.

My main concern would be getting the right footwear for sightseeing - cobbles, sand?

I'd take 2 pairs of sandals minimum and some trainers/daps.

Cotton, linen. I found it much easier to have shoulders covered than worry about suncream around spaghetti straps/bags.
Cross-body bag for valuables with wide strap
Good sunhat
I'd mostly wear dresses.

Yes if you can do a laundry load in the middle - are you touring or staying in one place? Even on touring holidays there's usually been an opportunity to give a bag of laundry.

I have managed with 5 dresses, a pair of shorts, a pair of trousers and 4 tops for 14 nights, but it's been a close run thing, primarily as I'm going to a smart event on the last but one night so need something totally clean on for that.

AppaTheSixLeggedFlyingBison · 12/07/2024 13:41

Thank you. Won't be having any particular smart dinners so probably won't need a change for the evening.

Laundry I am not sure on. I'm staying in a hotel so in theory there will be some sort of dry cleaning, but not sure if it will be extortionate. Then again if I need it I'll just have to suck up the price!

Luggage I have 23kg so that's not a problem that side

I often just take dresses for a hot holiday. Lots and lots of dresses. And a tube of travel wash to give things the chance to be worn for a 2nd day.

Sightseeing where? Strolling along the shores of Lake Garda or battling your way through a Moroccan souk?

Sorry should have said! Singapore and Seoul

Lots of hotels will do laundry for you - it’s not ridiculously expensive. They usually do it by weight so take a light bag to keep it in!

TakeOnFlea · 12/07/2024 14:05

Ah ok. Pack for 9 nights and have the hotel do a wash for you after the first week.

I think you'll want different clothes for the evening! Singapore gets very sweaty in the afternoon so sightseeing in the morning, pool in the afternoon, shower and back out for the evening is what we tended to do.
