Festival dress for one of those posh banquets?

Any ideas hopefully weather will be nice. I am too heavy size 16 and there people tend to get dressed up. I have a line in my upper arm that I’d like to disguise. I don’t think I’d feel comfortable in a jumpsuit due to the loo situation. Foot wise I can only wear Uggs or Birkenstocks

I think you need to post some dress examples, because festival dress covers an awful lot, and also more of an idea what sort of ‘posh banquet’.
I can’t see that either Birkenstocks or uggs would be suitable for a posh banquet though tbh.

You need to indicate a budget, @EachandEveryone - or people won’t know whether you want Shein or Saint Laurent …

Evenstar · 09/07/2024 15:34

If you really mean a festival dress Joanie clothing have some lovely ones, especially their Dawn O’Porter range and lots are in the sale now https://joanieclothing.com/clothing/dresses.html

Apileofballyhoo · 09/07/2024 16:26

Can you say why only uggs or birkenstocks? Is it width and no heel rise?

AndYesTheWeeDonkeys · 09/07/2024 16:41

Tbh if it’s something like Wilderness Festival, not a single person will care what the OP has on her feet. Though if the weather continues like this I’d lean towards warmth!

How about something like this, @EachandEveryone:

Its because i have a big foot due to my treatment. They are the only shoes I can get on for now.

There’s a longer version, fortunately!

Still no idea of the kind of style you’re hoping for.

EachandEveryone · 09/07/2024 16:51

Ive heard joanie clothing isnt any good for large boobs? No particular style
just something i can go dancing in after. Cant be armless or show alot of leg.

@EachandEveryone my DD is quite well endowed and has a few things from Joanie, I would say it depends on the style, I am smaller and still find things that fit well

Civilservant · 09/07/2024 17:13

confused: festival brings to mind pop/rock/folk music festivals etc, but you say it includes a ‘posh banquet’ and smart dress. Could you explain? Do you mean something like posh outdoor opera?

AndYesTheWeeDonkeys · 09/07/2024 17:41

As I said above I’m assuming the OP means something like Wilderness Festival (Oxfordshire based, smaller but very similar to Glastonbury.) Very family focused and with several expensive restaurant / banqueting events one can buy separate tickets for (alongside your festival ticket).

dyethedress · 09/07/2024 17:46

Would this sort of thing work for you:

I find that cross over tops work so much better for those who are larger and choose a dress made of fabric with a bit of give. I've bought two dresses from Isobel London which were not expensive but punch well above price point as far as how they look on the larger lady etc. they have many styles so something should work

EachandEveryone · 09/07/2024 18:20

S and D dont touch me on top ive sent loads back which is a shame.

This is the vibe. Hard to explain really. Lots of youngsters raving in the woods drinking champagne then us lot eating nice food, watching really good comedy and dancing to some Northern Soul. I never know any names on the bill. https://lostvillagefestival.com/incredible-eating/

I'm bigger than you and I have this which looks nicer on me than the model I think!
