My face is really really dry and feels tight.

I don't like moisturiser which feels really heavy but obviously need something more than I am using.

I also need to revamp/restart a skin routine.

COme on then - what do you recommend?

How do you cleanse/wash your face?

bubblesbabe · 11/04/2008 09:19

Definitely Liz Earle products - brilliant for dry skin. Have a look on line.

I like Time Delay by Boots...good for slightly maturing skin. Nice cleanser you use a muslin cloth for, and rich moisturisers with SPf's in.

Oil of Olay. Everytime.

Anna8888 · 11/04/2008 09:35

Start by using a moisturising, non-wash off cleanser followed by a moisturiser (which you should massage gently into your face and neck for a couple of minutes).

There are thousands of brands - if you don't want to spend much go to Boots, if money is no object try a counter (or two) at a department store or go to SpaceNK and get advice.

I really can;t stand the smell of the aldi one - sorry.

I do moisturise every day - using a boots one at the moment

Dehydrated is probably more the case than dry tbh

Spiezia have lovely stuff which is organic so doesn't include any chemicals. Try their cleanser, which is like the organic version of the Eve Lom cleanser... also has lots of lovely ingredients which are good for your skin and contains oils which are VERY good for dry skin. They also do a moisturiser oil which is much better for you than creams - especially if you have dry skin as it will creat a barrier for the skin against water, which makes it even dryer. Creams will contain water, which make dry skin even dryer.

Look them up online - they also sell lots other lovely beauty and wellbeing things. Alternatively Bio oil is good on the face, but best used at night so it?s got time to sink in.

Have you tried Aveeno?

My skin has been terrible since having DS with dry, flakey patches. I have literally spent a fortune on epensive moisturisers to no avail. As a last resort I tried Aveeno and it is by far the best and my dry patches are much improved. Worth a try, I think

Good luck!

I have very dry skin too and know how uncomfortable it can be. It's taken me ages to find the best stuff for it.

You should;

  1. Exfoliate at least once a week. It may seem the wrong thing to do but what you're probably doing is putting moisturiser on top of flakey, dead skin which will not be penetrating to the real problem. The best one is Clarins 'gentle facial peeling' (good for sensitive skin too.)
  2. Use a gentle, moisturising facial wash/cleanser daily.
  3. Moisturise daily with a product for dry skin.
  4. If you can be bothered, cleanse and moisturise each night when you can really slap the greasy stuff on!!
  5. If you use foundation, choose a Clinique one for dry skin.

Good luck!

Like you I've got dehydrated rather than dry skin so have recently had a session of microdermabrasion and through rave recommendations on here I'm using Liz Earle's cleanse and polish hot cloth cleanser, toner and moisturiser and so far am really pleased with the results. On the website you can list your skin type and problem areas and they recommend products that suit.
