What do I ask for

Actually first question should probably be is it achievable.

I decided last year to stop covering my grey hair. My hair grows really quickly so I was only getting 2 weeks before visible grey roots were really showing at the front.

I started having highlights to lighten my normal level 7 ash brown hair about 18 months ago. I was never thrilled with it so was slightly relieved when my hairdresser said she was moving. I've found a new salon and have a colpur consultation on Tuesday with a new salon.

I love the colour in the photo but I've no idea what to ask for or if it will work. I do still have quite a bit of my darkish brown coming in with the grey. It's probably a level 8 blonde just now and has gone quite brassy - it was last done in March.

Any help?

Can you post a photo of your hair as it is at the moment? At a glance that looks like highlighted hair with some balayage at the ends

This is from about 4 weeks ago

I find a lot of those balayage styles only look good when curled

If you're honest with yourself, are you going to do that daily?

If not, I would look for a straighter style that you like.

I agree that balayage needs waves or curles to work well.
The colour you have in the photo looks lovely!

I'm a bit confused because you said you decided to stop covering your grey, but you are still colouring it. Do you mean you used to have a solid colour to try and keep it your original colour, but you switched to highlighting to try and blend in the grey?

Yes sorry. I used to have an all over permanent tint in dark brown.

Then switched to highlights. It's still not quite light enough to hide the grey though so I'm hoping this new stylist has an idea of how to better hide the root.

Yeah, mine looks crap if I don’t curl it, but I only have to curl it every 3 days, not every day.
