To be sick of looking like this (pic attached)

I had 2 CS and have that pooch. I eat well, exercise and have gone down to my size 8 again except for this horrible stomach that does not want to shift.
It is IMPOSSIBLE to find a pair of trousers or jeans.
I have to go for a bigger size to fit my stomach but then it looks so baggy and shit fitting on me. I feel so frumpy because I just cannot find good clothing.

I recently bought a pair of trousers for 100 pounds and then spent 50 to tailor it because it was huge all round from butt to the thighs and bottom - all because it can fit my stomach. I just can't do that again.

I'm honestly depressed. I am 5'3, petite but look pregnant. Why isn't there more options available for women's bottoms given that many women experience this. Please help. What can I do? Where can I shop.

I'm 5 years PP and my C-section pouch has only just gone down now, I'm not sure how far PP you are. I was still wearing maternity leggings and joggers 2 years PP. I've mainly lived in dresses and skirts tbh but then again I like the oversized look. I found doing core and strengthening exercises such as planks really helped

Yousaidwhatagain · 06/07/2024 13:57

Thanks, I'm 2years PP and feel so awful. I think because I've lost all my weight and am petite, this just stands out. Someone asked me recently as well if I'm pregnant. Feel even worse.

It's just that I need to size up for clothing and feel so untidy and frumpy, which I never was before.

I am in the same boat OP. I've had 3 c-sections. I have recently managed to start slimming down and getting fit and active and I feel really happy and great but my pouch above my scar is awful. I don't think it will ever go.

I'm nearly 3 years pp and a size 10. Happy with everything except that area. I find it quite restrictive in terms of what I can wear, I used to wear bodycon dresses and tube skirts and high waisted trousers/cropped tops but that all looks awful now.

I'm trying to just embrace the body I have and enjoy the health kick I am on but sometimes it does feel a bit pointless. All this weight lost, 95% of my body toned and healthy and one stupid wobbly pouch right at the front 😭

WhereDoWeGoFromHereHmmm · 06/07/2024 14:09

Also I have totally and completely stopped wearing jeans! They have gone from my life forever.

Buttoneyed · 06/07/2024 14:11

Im almost 9 years pp after 2 sections and have the pouch too. I’m a size 8 to 10, 5 foot 4. I’ve learnt to live with mine now and wear looser tops- body con is not my friend.

bryceQ · 06/07/2024 14:12

Have you ever seen a post natal physio? The way you're standing with your back in extension and your pelvis tilted could be a sign of issues within your abdominals, I wonder if this could help? (it's really common enough having children that are posture changes like this)

CosFuckThatGuy · 06/07/2024 14:13

I got mine chopped off, my stomach muscles stitched back into place, and a little bit of lipo seeing as they were there. Am honestly so thrilled that I did, five years later.

Choccyp1g · 06/07/2024 14:14

I accidentally put my jeggings on back to front the other day; I didn't even notice until I reached for the pocket, because they fitted better.

umberellaonesie · 06/07/2024 14:14

I would concentrate on some deep core pelvic floor training. Speak to a womens health physio or a PT specialising in post partum pelvic health.
You still stand with a concave back and your glutes look quite flat. Your posture and therefore pooch should improve with some targeted core training.

BurntBroccoli · 06/07/2024 14:19

I'm 20 years post C section and the pouch has never gone. Despite being a taught size 10 gym user.
Even worse when an ex commented on it once 😟.
Not so bothered now I'm older (and single!).

BurntBroccoli · 06/07/2024 14:21

Forgot to say, it's the way the layers of muscle and skin were sewn back together. I think only surgery would correct it.

This isn't necessarily true with targeted core and pelvic floor training the majority of people will see a distinct improvement.

TheSquareMile · 06/07/2024 14:32

Would you wish to consider surgery, OP?

MissyB1 · 06/07/2024 14:39

I agree with pp your posture is partly to blame. The things pregnancy does to us! A good physio and then a pilates instructor will help.

Verstappooo · 06/07/2024 14:44

Same!! I am exactly the same. The best thing I have ever done is row a lot. Then I got sick and had to stop.

But now I do an exercise where I basically breathe out and suck in my belly and do a plank. It does help me to a certain extent.

I have very low expectations - all I ever want is for my boobs to protrude further than my lower belly 😂 and that’s it!

I have also been working on my posture by doing yoga every night

MightyGoldBear · 06/07/2024 14:46

Katrina oakley is great for diastasis recti exercises and posture. They are exercises for life though and some people still need surgery if the gap is too large and the tissue too damaged.

It's not c section dependent either.

I'm planning to save up for surgery as I've had physiotherapy for nearly 10 years with little change. Also size 10 so I just look very pregnant all the time no matter what I do. It's impossible finding clothes that don't make me look bigger than I am all round. I really miss the freedom of being able to wear trousers and a top or anything remotely tight fitting.

Rockmumontherun · 06/07/2024 14:51

I would recommend doing plank exercises. This would improve the muscles in your lower back as well as your core, which would help your posture. I do 4 mins of planks a day and run 3 x a week and my stomach has really improved.
I also go to pilates which is great for whole body strength.

Can I ask did you get it done in the UK or overseas?

Yousaidwhatagain · 06/07/2024 15:05

Thanks all for the advice. I have only just heard of Scar tissues massages which looks very promising, has anyone ever tried that?

After my first CS, I bounced back really well.

I then lost my baby late into my pregnancy and had a very traumatic procedure, Hysterotomy.

Then I had a 3rd CS with my baby and this is where things have stuck.

This sounds so vain but I used to dress well and feel so confident about my body. I just look at myself and feel so depressed and think of all I have been through. I'm going to try the plank exercises. It didn't occur to me about my posture- so thanks for pointing that out, I will work on that.

Any more tips and advice, I would really appreciate 🙏

Same, size 8 everywhere except the belly which makes jeans/trousers shopping a pain. I gave up trying to lose weight as I end up looking like a skeleton but with a belly. I think I was kind of ok in the skinny jeans/jeggings era as looser tops looked good with them but now I have to choose comfort - things that fit the belly but swamp my legs - or style - fits everywhere but end up with lines all over my skin where it’s digging in!

CosFuckThatGuy · 06/07/2024 15:17

In the uk @caringcarer it cost about £6k but believe it's nearer £9k these days.

Touty · 06/07/2024 15:18

I went for a consultation for a tummy tuck, I’ve got two rolls of fat which are still there despite losing weight, the surgeon said yes she could do it but couldn’t guarantee that it wouldn’t grow back 😤

Winterjoy · 06/07/2024 15:31

Agree with PP that especially in the second pic it looks like you have quite a significant pelvic tilt resulting in concave lower back and protruding abdomen. Look into targeted physio/training (or 1-2-1 pilates to correct/relearn posture etc) before jumping into major surgery.

MsCactus · 06/07/2024 15:55

Following with interest - I'm slim but have the same issue pp

My mum always had a flat looking tummy after 3 DC - she had lots of loose skin and diastasis but wore super tummy sucking in pants every day. Not sure if that's helpful, but for looking good in clothes might help as a temporary fix!
