Post-birth wedding outfit

First baby is due at the end of July and I have weddings to go to mid-September and October.

I strongly suspect I will not have the time, energy or inclination to go shopping after the birth- but have no idea what size I will be.

Does it make any sense to buy some kind of 'maternity' wedding outfit or will this just look a bit rubbish post-pregnancy? Any ideas? Or should I be optimistic and assume I'll be able to go shopping?

I've got stuff I can wear if I've bounced back to normal by then, but my weight doesn't normally fluctuate much so there isn't much "give" in the system.

wait till afterwards. you don't know what shape/size you'll be... then buy online in good time so you can send back if looks shite. this way you can also buy lots of outfits and send back the ones you don't like?

actual maternity wedding outfits won't do that long post-birth, but a jersey wrap dress (Isabella Oliver or similar) might see you through

remember you will need access for bfing - wrap dress with cami under, or skirt / camisole / wrap cardi combo is ideal for this, or you could get a special bf dress (Boob are good)

You may well ahev bounced back though - dd was born middle of Aug and although not at my sveltest I got into my best suit for a 3rd Nov wedding.

oh yeah, had forgotten about need to feed - d'oh! definitely don't have anything that would do in that case. hmm will think about online v wrap dress options...

thanks!

Tbh I would wait - apart from anything else it may be good for you to get out for a morning or afternoon shopping by then, and small babies are actually very portable. I am normally a size 12 but was a size 16 in non maternity wear for about 2 months following ds's birth. I was down to a 14 by 5 mths after his birth, but didn't return to a 12 until after I stopped bfing. And everyone is different. I would wait and see and then buy something that is not too expensive (because your weight may still be changing) after you lo is born.
